Gets an "exceptional recommendation" from my wallet…

  • I've been playing this on gamepass and it's pretty cool. I really like the mario rpg mechanic of timing buttons for attack and blocks in turn based games, though it can make the game trivially easy. Like a dragon did the combat infinitely better. Still pretty cool.

Story is ok, loading time is really long, like Final fantasy 9 long. Not a fan how often random encounters are, I bet I didn't need half the exp I got and can proceed just fine.

    • You playing on PC or Xbox One? Load times are supposed to be pretty good on PC

      • Xbox Series S. It's the load time between encounter. It's not awful, but noticably more than 10 seconds. Which feels awful cause random encounter happens pretty often in this game

        • Yeah that sucks :( SSD and all

Played this a bit. To be honest not that great. Has a few quite antiquated mechanics like random encounters while you're walking around. Coupled with limited opportunities to refill your hp / mana this isn't a great feel since you feel compelled to save your resources for the inevitable boss fight, which makes the random encounters even more tedious. Bosses also feel a bit too much like damage sponges.

The time mechanic feels a bit gimmicky and not fully utilised. Usually it just results in a debuff or some barely worthwhile synergy.

    Visuals are great however.

Can't argue with the price though.
