A winch would be one of the first mods we make to a 4WD. The 11XP from Runva is an 11,000lb (4,989kg) waterproof winch perfect for almost any 4WD. What makes the Runva 11XP so tough is it’s ratchet braking system – instead of using friction brakes like other winches it uses a ratchet inside the gearing – this is a lot safer and reduced heat, which is one of the biggest killers of winches.

probably a bullbar would be handy before a winch :)
Can run winch cradle ion standard bumper
so then a cradle is the first mod.
either way, winch is not first.
Haha yeah. He spoke like a typical corny salesman.
1st mod, the brightest light bar your wallet can handle
2nd mod, (after a quick visit to the panel beaters) rock sliders & barwork
3rd mod, suspension for that flex & raised centre of gravity
Then add every other mod that adds a ton of weight, sound about right?Mate how could you forget the most critical piece of the 4wd, the Kings Awning.
I don't have a light bar and have never needed one. It wouldn't be high on my list, more of a luxury. A winch to me is essential, even though I've only ever had to use mine once for myself (plus a few more times recovering others without winches). Even higher on the list would be a decent set of recovery tracks and an air compressor.
Ok 4wd Experts. What's wrong with a snatch block and a 4 tonne come along?
Effort!
Ok so just the effort (the exercise will do me good) and can you replace the wire rope on a come along with synthetic do you think?
Effort. Speed. Safety. It will be a bit hard to winch out if you can't also be behind the wheel. Also it's dangerous to be near the rope/shackle if something was to break.
The Runva 11XP Premium can be bought from Repco for $740 with the current 20% off Racq discount.
Therein lies the true bargain.
I have the Runva 11XP, it's a good winch and has done everything asked of it and gotten me out of places where only a winch could.
But the Carbon 12k winch would be my choice when it comes on sale. It's got a better ingress protection, better warranty, better build quality and is only 19kg compared to the Runva's from memory 32kg which makes a big difference when that weight is forward of the front axle.
Yeah? Nah. It's just about the last one…
