  • Hmm I'm waiting for net to be connected (10-20 working days x.x) as I've moved, but I get the sense by the time this has arrived I'll already have net connected.

Using phone at the moment, but its less than ideal as I get poor reception in most areas of house, with this I could connect dongle straight to router =/

Anyone know delivery times average for mln?

    • why not collect in store

      • +2

Nearest store is about 30 hours drive away?

        • +1

yeah, and the sale finishes midday tomorrow so you would miss out.:(

    • Are you sure your router supports this device?

  • Can this be unlocked for free? Going overseas for 2 months.

  • +1

    Do the credits expire?

    • 15 days I think.

      • No thanks then. It's only good for a weekend trip. 1GB data at 3G speeds will take forever to use up anyway.

        • +1

Correction, 1GB data at Optus 3G speeds will take forever to use up.

Tempting price, but I can't freaking stand the dodginess of Optus's "10MB increment" data counting. Is it right that this modem is locked to the Optus network rather than Optus itself, and doesn't require unlocking for it work with resellers such as Virgin?

    • In general all optus locked stuff will work with resellers. Can't ever been certain till you've tried it though.

    • Id prefer the 10mb increments as optus said due to these the first 30MB of any day was rounded to 10MB…… But now optus are switching to 1MB increments, as an optus pre-pay user they emailed me about it awhile ago

      • Either way is well above the 'dodginess' threshold. In effect the Optus user agrees if a device transacts 2 KB of data in its own session, that may deplete their quota by a factor of five hundred (1 MB) or five thousand (10 MB). Experience several dropped connections and you can kiss the 30 MB or a lot more goodbye merely by a device having transferred a few KB each session.

Actually, Optus doesn't even define the scheme clearly enough to allow a diligent, tech-savvy person to be sure what they're agreeing to (there are multiple ways a "MB increment" could apply in the context of an internet connection). The 'per session' assumption is based on what can be inferred from user reports, and presuming those are correct, one would require detailed historical session data to make any sort of reasonable estimate of how their quota might be consumed.

  • Does it work with an Amaysim SIM which uses Optus' network?

    • It should. I have a boost one which works and this should be the same. You'll need to change the settings- see their web site.

  • So do you have to show ID to reseller to set up acct/activate these or can you just plug in and surf?

Remember in 2009 paid more than $200 for this device + data. Wow …

    • +2

      same here, I paid I think $179 - I WANT A REFUND !!

  • I filled my gas yesterday and I saw the same deal on the poster in the shell/coles shop.

    • Which coles express? I checked their website and could not find this.
      Thanks.

    • Do you mean that Shell was advertising MLN, or do you mean that Shell/Coles was offering the same deal?

Nearest shop to me is 5 hours flight in a FA 18 fighter jet.

    Good deal though

Also how many days to use the 1 gb?

    thank you

    • a 5 hours flight in a FA 18 fighter jet with a full payload?

  • I haven't used these before but will be away for work. Does the 15 days start from first use or when I buy it

    • from activation…. when you activate it

  • +1

can these be used with a simcard that is on a contract not prepaid??

    • Yes it can. Only condition is that it should either be on Optus or be on the optus network - like Dodo or Amaysim.

  • +1

These will work fine with Amaysim or Dodo which both use the Optus network.
Cheap insurance if your land-line goes down.

  • Does this need a promo code or something? Or has it expired - shows $25 now.

    • The offer expired

  • these guys take forever to ship 7days later and item leaves mln today.. got my notification today that they shipped.

Still waiting for these and im in Melbourne 20km away.
