  • Do they price jack first?

    • Independently run business I believe, so depending on which garage you go… I personally had both good and bad experience with different garage.

      • I thought that was Kmart owned, they must have sold it?

  • Dealership price for major sevice: $645.33
    MyCar Price: $700.57 - $100 = $600,57

So a possible saving of $45, with 12 months roadside. However if maintained well shouldn’t be needed.

Still better to find a trusted independent mechanic.

    • My dealership was cheaper.

        Nice. What make?
YMMV. Great when dealer has transparent pricing to make it easy to compare.
Side note: Had my final visit to the stealership. Tried to tell me bushing needed replacing for $600 when only replaced 3 months earlier. Got an independent opinion: Nothing wrong with them, being taken for a ride.

I once got my car back from a dealer and nothing at all had been done. I'd marked the oil/air filters, unchanged, and the oil was dirty. After a protracted argument, and when confronted with the evidence, they invented a bulltish story about an hilarious mistake that resulted in the car in front getting serviced twice. All car dealers are liars and cheats.

    • WoW name and shame!

    • Haha, amazing.

I have a mechanic I trust. He knows his stuff and if there's a problem, he goes out of his way to explain what he'll be doing, and what he has done after.

He is also pretty busy, which means one week I had to get some suspension work at a place I hadn't been to before. I was a bit sus as it was difficult for me to verrify what they had actually changed, and it wasn't cheap. But I'll have to trust they did what they said they did.

But I also paid for a tyre rotation and balance at the same time, which clearly wasn't done even though they argued with me that it was and assured me it was done. Easy for me to verify; I had cheap tyres on the front, good ones on the back, I wanted them better ones moved to the front. My cheap shitty tyres were still at the front.

Simple mistake, maybe, but it's stuff like that which gives you no confidence in places.

    • I'm very wary of mechanics doing this kind of scam so I'd rather just service my car myself now. If I had to get something done by someone I'd def leave marks to see if anything was done.

Be aware they would find something you don’t need to repair eg: fixing oil leak aka changing rocker cover gasket, or change both front and rear rotor. I don’t even use my Amex offer, may only just change the tyres.

    T&C has

Logbook services for certain vehicle brands, including BMW, MINI, Mercedes-Benz, Land Rover, MG, Porsche, Mercedes-AMG, BMW M, Tesla, Ferrari, Aston Martin, Bentley, Lamborghini , Rolls Royce, McLaren, are unable to be booked online and are excluded from this Promotion.

No good for my Rolls Royce Phantom then :(

    • Better to be serviced by Phantom Stealership then.

    • did your boss not pay you enough? why are you still trying to cheat his money by taking his car to cheap service with discount?

  • My experience between independent and dealer are similar. 99% of them don't fill up the windscreen fluid but charging it. When I brought up to them, most have no response and all of them that responsed insist that they have filled it up even though the reality said differently. They also said they didn't charge it as it is part of the service where the invoice is clearly stating the detail amount of the windscreen solution. Some also didn't top up the coolant with some excuses. I wish that I can do the service by myself or have a recorder to record what they are doing.
At one time, I brough my car to Mycar to do log service and I would normally bring my own oil to reduce the cost. Most of the time, there will be around half to 1 litre of oil remains which they will give back to you in the same bottle. But at that time they didn't and asked if I can have the bottle back. They said it has been thrown away and they wouldn't go to their bin to pick it up. But guess what, they prefer to dig the same bin and get me some other random used bottle. Pretty suspicious if they actually replace the oil with my oil, or even replace it

  • I tried to book online for a log book service last week or so and it wouldn't let, so I had to call to book it in for this Wednesday.

Am I able to get the $100 off?

    • Nope. Has to be online.

Apparently my 2014 Outlander is so exotic I can't book online, I have to call and therefore no discount??
