AEG 18V 6.0Ah Brushless Line Trimmer Kit - ALT18BS6 $299 (Was $429) + Delivery ($0 WA C&C) @ Tool Kit Depot

660

Currently on sale for $299 (RRP$429) + delivery ($17 to Sydney) however I just picked one up in Sydney from Bunnings on their price beat guarantee for $285.30.

AEG's 18V Line Trimmer features a lightweight, well-balanced design. The outer rotor, brushless motor delivers plenty of performance and run-time. The unit has a 2 speed switch & variable speed trigger to match the speed to the application. The aluminium split-shaft design breaks apart for compact storage, and is also designed to accept a range of attachments. AEG’s easy-wind bump head makes line replenishment a quick task.

1 x 18V Brushless Line Trimmer
1 x 18V 6.0ah battery
1 x 18V charger

EDIT: also available at Adelaide tools - https://adelaidetools.com.au/aeg-18v-6-0ah-brushless-line-tr…

Clearance item as the kit with 4ah battery is coming and the 6ah battery is discontinued. None in bunnings WA

    • Didn’t realise it was clearance but can now see the 4ah kit coming soon on the AEG website for $429 also.. still a fair few 6.0ah in stock at both my local bunnings.

      Sounds like a downgrade

Love mine. So much more convenient than the old petrol one.
    Plenty of power too.
This would probably be the old non-Force batteries.
Not sure what the real world difference is, but I get between 10-20 minutes of edging depending on how much power I'm using (non-Force 6Ah batteries).
Something to note, you will need to wait for the battery to cool before it will start to charge, so good to have a spare on hand.

    • Yes that’s right - it’s the non force battery- my battery was labelled 2021. Not sure what the force batteries offer but I’m happy with this. I just gave it a run and I’m stoked. Based on the power of this thing I’m glad I didn’t get the 56v which I was originally looking at.I can't imagine I’ll ever need to use the high setting on this trimmer unless I pick up the hedging attachment.

This is a really good whippersnipper - we've got 1.3 acres, so ours gets a good workout and hasn't missed a beat. Restringing could be easier, but that's about the only complaint.

Thanks OP! 6Ah battery, double line feed & pretty good reviews saying it can handle most situations that your average home owner is likely to come across.
Fingers X'd my local has stock!
I bought an ozito grass trimmer about a year ago on sale and it's useless (that's what you get when you aren't looking for a bargain but instead are just being cheap lol)

    • Haha good luck. If your local bunnings has none I still think 299+delivery is worth it. This can take additional attachments too.
Lol I had an old 20v cheapie too from when masters shut down. Finally gave up on it when I saw this and am instantly relieved I no longer have to do the edges at a turtle pace while cursing over constantly broken line.

Can this cut through thick weeds or can I get a blade to add on. Tia

    • I have only done a quick run of my buffalo grass edges but based on the power I would suggest thick weeds wouldn’t be an issue. I’m not sure if a blade add on is available but I imagine so.

    • Immediately after I bought this a few years back they come out with a brushcutter version.
It's good for quick and easy tidy ups round the house.
This is what you want for the big heavy weeds.

    • Had some landscaping done recently and there were no edges.
This was able to cut through the dirt to create a nice deepish edge. Battery lasted about 10 minutes doing this constantly (was only a small section)

  • I'm not sure but it might be best to price match this at Bunnings, not sure how warranty would work if you bought it from anywhere else as it's an exclusive brand.

    • I double checked this and AEG is exclusive to bunnings, Adelaide tools and tool kit depot so warranty isn’t a problem but you are right in that it is much easier to walk into your local store than post something back if it breaks.

    • All those stores are westfarmers owned, so bunnings sister brand. And aeg will deal with warranty too, so not really an issue. All those 3 are registered retailer for aeg, so it's not like buying it from ebay.

      • oh wow never knew wesfarmers bought other brands.

  • Price match at Bunnings Melbourne??? Anyone??

Our lowest prices policy means that if you find a competitor's lower price (including GST and delivery charges) on the same in-stock item that's available for same-day delivery or collection, we'll beat it by 10%. This excludes trade quotes, stock liquidations, commercial quantities and Marketplace products.

      • I actually went to Bunnings and they tried to explain this policy.

  • Out of stock all Bunnings near me :(

+1, chat to bunnings online chat, they refused price matched. Darn

      • Bunnings online knocked back my price match too but went in store this morning and it was matched no probs.

        • yeah. problem is all bunnings near me are out of stock :( so sad
that's why @samedream tried to chat online.

      • Thanks! I intended to do the same. :)

Really is an excellent trimmer. I have 2, one with the edger head permanently on. The second I picked up as a kit, same as this but it was box damaged and out for only 200. It also had another battery via online redemption at the time. Ended up selling the batteries for more than I paid for the kit too!

  • Hi those with this item, can the shaft be quickly shortened to allow the line trimmer to fit in the boot of a car easily? (Or is it fixed in length permanently)

    • +1

Split shaft- shaft is either on or off but it does easily detach into two pieces

      • Cheers, sounds good 👍
I have a petrol one which doesn’t disassemble which makes it clumsy to transport.

  • Can someone share how long the battery operates for?
My worry is that it will be a short-duration
Any recommendations for an acreage plot?

    • I have the Dewalt similar to this and I use 3x6Ah batteries with a fast charger - one in the line trimmer lasts 15-20 minutes, one cooling down and one fast charging. Don't run the batteries all the way down for good battery longevity.

This is enough to mow for as long as you need to.

    • 10-15 minutes of constant hard edging, thick grass, etc.
Light edging (ie my edges were cleaned up recently and it's just grass I'm cutting) will last 20 minutes give or take

  • Was at the Bunnings car park when both ads were taken down. It’s over.

  • Appears no longer available.

Just grap one from bunnings at Mentone, Vic, price was $269.10. Thanks. still some stock left there.

    • Ripper you did better than me. U mustn’t have been charged shipping. What a steal

  • Appears out of stock now at Adelaide tools and toolkitdirect. Not sure how to mark this on the deal as it’s my first post….

If anyone is interested the same deal is available on the 18v 6.0ah blower kit for 299. Retails for 349 in bunnings

  • Not sure if I will keep mine as I have a Victa that is similar. Only reason I got it is because I’ve been having a issue with my victa line head, so if I can get the head replaced might just return it. If anyone is interested, please let me know. Otherwise I’ll just take it back for a refund.

  • Anyone able to post a receipt?

  • Bought online, paid, no one said anything until today, Sent an email to them, they said they don't have stock and refunded me. Wth!!!
