Another $60 price drop on RTX 3080 at BPC Tech. Need to replace VRAM thermal pads to keep it cool.
Shall we HODL?

Whats the RRP so I can think against buying one of these. I really am borderline tempted to replace my 1660… but maybe it can make it through the chip shortage…
EVGA ones were selling at around 1.2k back in Sept 2020. This is a good benchmark price to compare with if you want to know the RRP.
Good old time….
This was literally one brand of card from one retailer.
More accurate to say they were a $1400 - $1600 proposition for the first few months.
Original 3080 $1139 rrp. Tech usually falls in price over time - we are nearly up to the 4XXX series cards!
$1139 still expensive for HODLer. They still using their 1070s from 2016.
Still a great card at 2K
Got mine for 1479aud on release night. And I was disgusted with the price of it then, let alone now (and you don't even get FHR anymore).
Drop this another $500 then we'll talk.
Agree. Unlike some people who are still chasing after a non-LHR GPU deal these days…
Showing as $1899 now, not sure when it went back up the $60.
Replacing vram pads might void the warranty. Do at your own risk.
Why do you suggest to replace the pads?
The memory runs hot. Not so bad if you are only gaming, but terrible if you want to mine on it. When mining it easily hit thermal throttle limits at 110c - not something you want to leave it at long term. After thermal pad replacement it sits at low 80s.
Sincerely hope we don't end up like the US situation where they are using exclusive retail deals and expensive store memberships in front of the sales. Don't let harvey know…
