Having saw the Cobra on sale (Thanks ozbargain!) I decided to check the Wrench Pliers & Noticed this 8603250 model for $69.44 .

I promised myself I'd get one if it dropped below $70, and here we are. Hopefully a deal as I'm not too familiar with all the models Knipex has.

Free International Delivery from Amazon UK & US with No Min Spend for Prime Members

Edit: This appears to be an older model according to this video, but that's not necessarily a bad thing (still being produced?) - I'm still keeping my order.

Edit #2: For those wondering why this is better than a shift spanner or a slip-joint pliers, someone explains it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGb4WF4e8YQ

  • Thanks OP!
I purchased one - impulsive buy.

Interesting that it is being shipped from Pilsen, Czech Republic. I thought it was coming from the UK for some reason. Are there any issues, ie will it be genuine?

    • Interesting… it's sold by Amazon UK so I suppose there's grounds for a refund if they are fake, but mine appear to be being shipped from Krefeld, Germany (I bought the Cobra and this wrench-pliers together in the same order).

It's a wild guess, but I suppose they would have supplies of these tools all across their warehouses, and their computer systems probably just chose the most the most convenient/random units to send to AU?

Edit: From this youtube video - it looks like this is model an 'older' version of the tool, but still produced by Knipex. (doesn't matter to me - I prefer the silver colour): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aAEaKGZQ8Ec

      • If you look at the comparison, the old version doesn't have the grip serrations above the red rubber but the new one does. The Amazon link shows the new version but still uses the old part # 86 03 250, so they have recycled part numbers. 86 01 250 is the black oxide version.

  • Now I need a twin grip to complete my collection. will pass Raptor

    • If you take a look at the catalogue there's a heap of specialist versions of pliers and wrenches to collect. Far more than just these cobra and raptor. If you actually have a complete collection I'll be very impressed.

      • oooh i meant my ozbargain listed collection…

    • The twin grip looks like just what I need. But where can you purchase one? I can't find it anywhere.

      • I haven't seen any stock in Aust yet though I've only been casually watching. Can buy via Amazon US and I'm sure other US retailers.

        • Thanks @apsilon Say how do you search Amazon US? Do you go to their site directly or is there a better way?

          • @d123: Either direct on the site or via google etc.

  • Wow, that was fast. Bought on the 8th, delivered from Czech to me in Sydney in 8 days. Pity the packaging sucked. The pliers were sticking out of the packaging.

  • Well my 'package' arrived today. All it had inside was the packing slip with no visible tampering or holes in the packaging. Pretty annoyed as I was really looking forward to these.

    • Whoah that's pretty screwed up - hopefully it can be resolved via Amazon support. They were pretty good when I raised an issue once, but it was for a $20 product.

My pair of tools arrived today. Both were in a single Amazon cardboard envelope - some scrapes but no gaping holes in the envelope.

The Cobra pliers were just wrapped in bubble wrap and the pliers-wrench was in a thin cardboard box with all the Knipex branding (kinda like the ones sparkplugs come in). It was obviously crushed, so the end flaps were open & the tool can slip out.

No big deal as these are steel tools. I'm satisifed.

  • Well, mine also just arrived. It had a large tear on one side of the packaging, and inside was an empty Knipex box. I guess the packaging they used (a thin carboard sleeve) was not up to the task of carrying the tool.

    • Jeez - what are the handlers doing to these packages? Take some photos and raise an issue with Amazon - hopefully they can sort something out.

      • Yeah, will bring it up with Amazon. They are usually pretty good about these things. But still, I was looking forward to using it! Will just have to wait for the next Knipex deal to come…

    • So you got a Knipex box only?

      • Yep, I had an empty Knipex box. I'm surprised that the box didn't also fall out of the tear in the Amazon sleeve.

        • That's rubbish… Has Amazon agreed to refund you or organise for a new one to be sent?

          • +1

@g1: Thankfully they have agreed to process a refund for me. Thanks for asking!
