There is a serious bug in this that causes crashes for powerful computers and it has remained unfixed for months. No one is certain why, but Ryzen CPU with lots of cores causes the game to freeze when ending turns.

Runs perfect on my desktop with 1600AF and rx580. Brand new Legion 5 Pro freezes all the time, yesterday I was trying to play and it wouldn't make it past 10 minutes without freezing and crashing.

Ryzen CPUs not rising to the challenge

      • +2

You mean AMD not ryzen to the challenge?

    • Have you tried manually setting cores counts in the settings config? I applied settings according to my system and it seems to be working for me.

      • Yep, it helps a bit usually (only crashes occasionally ), but then yesterday it was unstable as hell. Even just having Chrome open at the same time makes it way more likely to freeze up, it's ridiculous.

My bigger worry is that if 2k doesn't actually fix the problem, Civ6 is going to be completely unplayable in the future as computers get more powerful.

    • hopefully this runs good maxed out at 1440p with a ryzen 7 8 core 5800x and my 6600 XT :D

You may be able to save an additional 5% using the coupon code PCGAMES5OFF I'm unsure if it works as I only found it after I had purchased Platinum Edition.

      • not applicaple but thanks for sharing

    • 5900X/6900 XT and I kept having this issue.Started using auto-end turn and it went away, even though it doesn't really make sense. The bug I still have is leaders missing most of their hair, but it's hair-larious so I'm not complaining.

Ok 2 more turns and then I’ll go to sleep

    **200 turns later***

  • Oh no dont do this to me I have work to do The price has been the only thing stopping me.

this used to be my ritual before doing uni assignments - a quikc game of Civ then tackle the assignment. So many times I'd find my self panicking through 2 hours of assignment after playing that game for hours and hours :)

    • +3

Only before assignments? How about during and afterwards? 😂

    • "quick"

Never heard of a game of Civ being called quick before. LOL

  • So this is just an expansion pack? Not the full game?

  • +2

One more turn… 3 hours later.

Platinum edition for $11.29 is the definitely the deal here (considering Gathering Storm would be the sole expansion you'd get if you were just getting one, anyway). HEAVILY recommend picking up Platinum, it's an amazing game made even more amazing with this DLC!

    • where is the link for the platinum edidition please? Just didn't find it.

    • +1

Noticed that afterwards, so I should of just did a separate bargain post.

The sale ends in ~18hrs also just noticed. There was no expire at the time of posting sorry.

      • No worries, mate - well done, awesome deal!

  • I am weak.

The platinum edition is too good to pass.

  • The anthology edition is on sale as well? would that be better than the plat edition?

Also can this be redeem on steam and played on mac os x?

    • Gotta buy the mac/linux version for mac, so not this linked one.

Not sure on the anthology vs plat… looks like just some content packs between them rather than major expansions.

      • yeah was quite confuse, the steam store version shows cross-platform compatible but this one shows it isn't.

was under the impression if i redeem this game in steam I would get a version that would work on win/mac/linux.

        • These guys are the same people who run MacGameStore (I discovered this when I tried to make a new account and it said I already had one). A quick check on that site shows that the Mac version of Civilization VI Platinum Edition is currently selling for $84.99

          • @cryptowiz: Same authentication. Whats bizarre is the pricing between the 2 can differ a lot.

        • Yeah not sure, I mean its not impossible it works that way, but you'd want to be sure huh.
The fact they call out mac versions separately on these stores makes me think its not shared from a purchase perspective.

By the way I saw the plat edition for $29 for a mac on one of the stores, isthereanydeal.com helps with finding. https://www.fanatical.com/en/game/sid-meiers-civilization-vi…

          • @3v3rqu357: Ok i just bought the anthology version, since its 23$aud (approx. )

It works. Downloading on my mac os x .

    • Is there 2 different releases for each OS on Steam, as that would be something new.

Typically its one steam key and it makes no difference.

  • How do you install the game? I got the key , but I go to steam and there is no option to download it…I have to buy it again but for $84

    • +2

First you have to install the Steam client. Once installed, go to the top menu and choose "Games" then from the dropdown menu choose "Activate a Product on Steam" and follow the instructions.

  • +1

    civ 5 is better lol

    • Ditto - I wanna try to like CIV6 - but I just cannot do it.

  • Thanks OP really good deal for civ6, at this price it's worth it over civ5
