I'm considering getting an SSD expansion for my PS5 and came across this deal, which doesn't seem too bad. Note I don't think it comes with a heatsink so you'd probably need to buy one separately for ~$35 if installing in a PS5.

It's hard to get an objective view on the SSD to get for PS5.
Honestly, the sequential read speed requirement is kinda iffy. PS5 does a zero fill sequential read test so a lot of SSDs can actually cheat. The cheapest 2TB deal costed $315 + heatsink price (~$10). Cheapest 1TB might have been SN750 SE with the $20 gift card rebate (maybe ~$150 after rebate, but including the extra heatsink cost).
One advantage of that WD SSD is that it is ready to go. No need to put on a heatsink manually.
SN750 SE doesn’t meet minimum PS5 recommended speeds so may cause issues with some games.
I just came here to say this exact same thing. Just get the better performing SN850 for cheaper with a heatsink.
Yeah you're probably right. Not sure if the SSD prices are likely to reduce much so unsure whether to buy now or wait. Can't really store much on the internal PS5 drive, which is annoying.
Prices have been decreasing steadily over the past year and will continue to do so. Particularly with the push for Gen 5 soon enough.
If you don’t play COD, PS5 internal storage is more than enough for a dozen games. Your call.
Or: SN850 is the best PS5 option, comes with heatsink for $475.
