If it aint 5g it aint their full network IMHO

  • I was with moose before joining Boost mobile. They are good but Boost is still cheaper for me.

If you go over your data allowance they slug you $10 per gigabyte. I'm on a similar deal at $10 per month but my savings were blown last month when I accidentally went 1.3gb over and paid $30.

    • Sorry to hear that, I would of thought you would of got a message to say when your data was nearly up for that month as that's what happen, then you just goto the app and turn it off.
But I guess you were unaware of that??

    • Why is it called "Unlimited" plan then? Thought they would cut you back to 1.5Mbit/sec speeds after the allocated data was used?

      • The 'unlimited' relates to calls and texts, not the data component, obviously.

We have been very happy with Moose. Great 12-month discount deals, VoLTE and VoWiFi, excellent customer support, presence on Whirlpool, monthly billing cycle. Make sure you pick a big enough plan to minimise or eliminate the chance of going over quota.

      They have esim yet?

      • +2

Not yet, as far as I know.

Is it not possible to deactivate data renewal when allowance is exhausted ?

      • You can deactivate it on the app

        • +1

Actually, you can't. You can switch off data usage but you cannot switch off excess charges while data usage is on. There is a difference. It is up to the customer to take action when their quota is nearly used up. When we were with Exetel, you could set the excess limit to $0. This meant you could use all of your quota without having to worry about getting charged for excess.

          • @ozimarco: Agree, There is no stop to excess data (which they should have), except for a message saying "you are near your limit" It's just a matter of knowing what plan is right for you, so you don't get the dreaded excess bill.

I rate moose up there with boost. I switched back to boost only to have the better coverage in my area. Apart from that moose were amazing. Very good deals here. Moose have WiFi calling too

    • Who hurt you?

Paying $9.80 / month for 6gig with moose , but offer was for first 12 months, then reverts to $15/month.
Coverage wise is dodgy for me with many drop outs when travelling M1 motorway North out of Sydney.
Have been planning to jump back to Telstra when jbhi fi do a great deal , which saddly I haven't seen for 18 months.

    • You missed the last deal in December? $500 GC on the $69 plan.

      • My last Telstra was $89/ month and $1300 GC on 12 month contract through JB hi-fi.
That's what I was hoping for but doubt that will happen again.

        • Was it posted on Ozb before? Never seen that deal.

          • @hawkeye93: It was September 2020, no idea if it was posted then as I didn't use ozbargain then.
It was their usual change from another carrier to Telstra, that's why I'm with moose now ( as they are Optus) ,ready to switch back when JB give me a great incentive.

I would not recommend this company. I joined from Telstra and faced many many issues. Certain contacts with other carriers other than Optus could no longer call me (no ringtone, zero, silence). They kept trying to reprogram my number and had to create tickets with Optus, which i never got a call or update from. My voicemail would stop working and i would have to call them weekly to have it setup again. They kept telling me their network was not compatible with Oppo phones and that's why I'm having issues, however i had a Huawei P30. not an Oppo. I missed a ton of calls and messages. It was a very stressful 3 months. I also had extremely poor reception in many areas. The boiling point was in 2 restaurants where i needed to scan the QR code to bring up the menu so i could order, and i had no reception, so i had to go outside and order on my phone where i had reception. It was embarrassing. I switched to Boost (back to Telstra) and will never ever look back. Hopefully this helps others.

Sounds like you've had a shit load of back luck and bad support.

I'll add my experiences that I've been using Moose for about 6 months on my Huawei P30 and have had zero issues. So far so good.

      • +1

Gosh it was bad..I am starting to heat up from anxiety just thinking about it. I'm super glad it's working well for you. Price wise they're plans are fantastic on promo!

  • I've used Moose for 6 months during one of their past promos, no issues then, I really liked their website and data tracking, better than others that I've found.
    I would use them again.

Yeah, bad luck with swifty7 hassles.

Looking at getting another cheap sim plan (2nd #/phone) like this deal or their $12.80/6Gb or Iinet $10/8Gb or $12.50/16Gb.
Using Circles for main/bulk data on their $16/60Gb old promo, my sweet spot atm.
And no issues with them so far.

Also Optus 50% off looks good, maybe.
Thou only device data only, no calls.
