[PC, XB1, XSX] Dolby Access/Atmos for Headphones A$3.41 + Payment Fee @ Eneba (Argentina VPN Required)

990

If you don't know already - this gives you Virtual Dolby Atmos (Virtual 7.1 Surround sound) on ANY pair of headphones!

Please read on after the purchase instructions (first 10+ lines only) - regarding suggestions on headphones and usage etc.

While this is not Expired - for some reason it has quadrupled in price - but don't fret…

I can't speak for the other deals listed on Eneba as this is the one I tried… but you could just try searching for the next cheapest Dolby deal on there with a good rating (there are quite a few)?

TL : DR - Just follow the instructions via the link.

https://www.eneba.com/xbox-dolby-atmos-for-headphones-pc-xbo…

BTW you might want to check out my other thread updating a recent one that expired…
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate $48.78 Per Year + $1 (+ $15.95 Expired Users) for up to 3 Years @ Ultimate Choice on Eneba (Need VPN)
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/680859

"Please note - I've copied and pasted and slightly altered a small amount of text from the ENEBA XBOX deal Thread from Jan 26." But it's largely just the instructions format only.

Buy the key from the Linked Deal, Copy your code…

NOTE - you need to set your VPN to Argentina for this one (Not some random Latin American country as I initially tried before I realised my mistake - I tried Brazil for the record)

Clear you Browser Cache, then Connect to Argentina via VPN - (Some people recommend using the free Windscribe Chrome extension(chrome.google.com) but I used NordVPN)

Once connected, navigate to https://redeem.microsoft.com/?wa=wsignin1.0.com and sign in with your normal Microsoft account (or make one first if you are new like I was).

With the VPN on - Enter the code as normal, redeem and turn off the VPN (thanks to @emrik) AND Clear your Browser Cache.

Just install the Dolby Access App in Windows and it should be all sorted!

Don't go just yet - read on below for relavant info to make full use of your Dolby Access!

Don't buy a crappy, limited Gaming Headset… Get quality Studio/DAW/Music headphones and use them for everything!

For instance - I just bought these WIRED Beyerdynamic DT 900 Pro X.
They are Over Ear (NOT On Ear) so they don't kill your ears (literally squash em), Open Backed (Better, fuller Spatial audio and much cooler too (not as Hot)

Got them for $300 from Umart. I'm not affiliated with anyone - it's just what I bought.
https://www.beyerdynamic.com.au/products/beyerdynamic-dt-900….

NOTE - I'm pretty sure you can cheaply/easily get adapters to convert to wireless/bluetooth too (this one has a detachable mini XLR Cable)?

I should mention that these were way too tight at first (really gave me a sore head and migraines from clamping soo hard)… but after very carefully bending it back many times it's loosened up a lot since I bought it 2-3 weeks ago) and it is soo much better!

I think I have a pretty big head - not sure?

BTW If you can find a good price - buy things like expensive headphones via one of these two options (as opposed to a normal retail store/site with normal 'fault only returns'.

Buy them on Amazon ONLY if FULLFILLED/DELIVERED by Amazon (makes no difference who sells it)… or purchase it as an Ebay Plus item.

That way - you can rip open the postpack, and the retail box, try it out for like a month etc and if you decide you don't like it or it's still too tight etc - just send it back for a full refund no excuses needed. Free 'change of mind' is what you get with those two options - though you may pay a little more for it.

I couldn't find any good deals online, even though I was prepared to pay extra - so I took a risk and just bought it at Umart.

I won't do this ever again as I'm very lucky I managed to stretch the headband enough on these cans that I didn't have to sell them secondhand and try and get another brand/model instead!

I bought these for (in order of priority) - Music Production, Gaming, and watching Movies/TV (with 7.1x Audio Tracks) and listening to Music.
These are many many quality levels above Gaming headsets.

Only downside is - this model has no built in mic - but you can use a standalone mic (eg I have a Shure SM58 Beta on a mic stand… or buy an attachable mic to attach to the actual headphones externally (clip on etc) or your shirt etc or table Mic stand?

They sound fantastic and so does the Dolby Atmos.
Makes a massive difference in FPS - just to hear people walking and crouching around is amazing compared to my old crappy buds with no Surround etc.

Will make gaming much easier/better - will really level the playing field as I only now realise what a massive disadvantage I had before!

The Dolby Access Software is good for Gaming and Movies, TV, Music, whatever.
Has different modes for each - eg in Gaming you can choose to focus on positional accuracy over other factors for better sound localisation.

My understanding is - you select Speakers or Surround sound in the Game Settings or wherever… and the Dolby Access converts that to Dolby Atmos for Headphones.

Hope it works for you!

Thank you for your time

@NoiceMemes: oh, well I'm new to this so I was just trying to repost a replacement working deal because I was really disappointed when I tried to get the old one earlier this morning and it was sold out.

Besides if the old deals are expired, then what's wrong with posting an actual working deal?

I dunno - I'll leave the politics to others.

            :)

            • +2

@RahRahRand: I don't necessarily have a problem with these GPU Eneba deals (besides Eneba being a bit shady - that's a discussion for another time), but it's just that I don't understand how they're not considered duplicates under the OzB rules.

              The dupe rules:

              • The original deal is older than one month, AND was expired or sold out between then and now.
              • The duplicate gains an excessive amount of positive votes (100+) and the original deal was posted and had become active more than 24 hours ago.

First point covers two clauses with the OG deal being posted at least a month ago and it being expired or sold out since.
Second point covers the dupe gaining a ton of positive votes. But lately those deals haven't been reaching that threshold.

At the very least I feel that it's better if these deals are allowed once a month, but maybe it's because they differ slightly in price and are hence not considered dupes or something.

    • Love Eneba for stuff like this. Thanks OP

      • :)

I've never heard of them before but I'm very happy that I didn't have any snags buying this and the xbox stuff.

I was kind of worried to be honest!

  • 7.1 sound on a 2 speaker (headphone) setup. Nah I don't think so mate.

Also just to be picky. Atmos technology actually is the overhead speakers, usually identified as the third number in a speaker setup. For example 7.1.4 - the "4" would be the Atmos speakers. A straight 7.1 setup (7 speakers plus a subwoofer) would be the Dolby Digital + standard.

    • +4

      You're missing the point.

Just try the free trial then make up your mind

      • -1

I don't need to, it's two speakers, it doesn't become 8 (7 speakers plus a sub) if I use the app.

        • +3

          That's why it's called virtual.

          • @anzacpaul: Just think about it mate - do you reckon that this app can somehow create additional sound sources in your headphones? If not, then the "virtual" setup would be just 2 sound sources, the sources that you already have.

This app is more likely a simply eq placed over whatever you're already hearing, no Dolby/Atmos involved past the branding of the EQ curve.

            • +3

              @AlanHB: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Head-related_transfer_function

Virtual sound sources based on math using mapped transfer function.

              aka Virtual surround

Works well, there are a lot of models and if you go hardcore now kits to map your ears so in fact virtual headphone surround could become more accurate than speaker based surround. Even using 5 or 7 speakers is still semi virtual because the speakers are not in the correct position for most surround sound points of origin.

Try it before you knock it!

            • +1

@AlanHB: I know alot of people that got sucked into buying "7.1 surround sound" headsets and then tell me how amazing the surround sound is.

If they really are 7.1, how do they divide up 7 speakers into two ears? Is there 4 speakers in one ear and 3 speakers in the other? And which ear gets the subwoofer?

              • -3

@slayerr: Yeah, I don't get why it is really that hard to understand that 2 speakers can't be 7, but obviously it is so I'm gonna stop engaging on this point.

              • +3

@slayerr: A lot of people tell you how amazing something is, but you choose to ignore them all and instead rely on a strawman argument against it.

                Gold

            • +2

@AlanHB: How many ears do you have?
This codec is transferring some of the processing from time delay of audio source from your brain to your computer. Depending on the application, it can be quite effective, or not.

        • Like I said - just try it - the free trial will cost you nothing.

  • Once you activate it on your Microsoft account I'm assuming you can download and use this on all your computers/laptops?

    • I don't see why not?

      • +1

I got the code but couldn't activate it my dolby access app saying its purchased in a different location despite the VPN is on . Any idea?

        • Did you follow my instructions to the letter?

Maybe you had the vpn on at the wrong time towards the end?

        • +1

Yeah i have the same issue,
          Used tunnelbear VPN to activate

        • Also note pop up blockers in browsers AND some vpns have their own buried in their settings - both can cause issues and may need to be not just temporarily switched off - but properly disabled (at least until you've finished the purchase)

  • +1

I own this product, although, i bought it at full price on the Microsoft store and i must say these actually improve the sound quality of your headphones. This software is basically a "one-click" equalizer. It boosts the sound just right without sounding harsh. Absolutely recommend it. I remember i had a trial period before buying it - not sure if that is still a thing but it's worth a look.

Basically, it's a very good equalizer that can make 95% of headphones sound better. The full price on the MS store is $23 so this is actually a bargain.

    • +1

Pretty sure it's got several slots for custom EQs too?

  • +1

This appears to be out of stock.

  • I can't speak for the other deals listed on Eneba as this is the one I tried… but you could just try searching for the next cheapest Dolby deal on there with a good rating (there are quite a few)?

Do they ever get more keys for the same link/deal later?

  • Kinda sucks that you have to pay for this on PC when my relatively old Samsung S10 and Tab S4 has this built in for free.

    • yeah but that's cause you ended up paying for it.

Nothing is included free when you buy stuff - it's just built into the price.

  • +3

This is terrible. Shouldn't have to pay for Atmos at all, should be a standard audio feature like stereo…

    • Dolby's gonna Dolby…

    • You always need to pay to use someone's tech though, ms just chose not to incorporate the cost into the OS and left it to the user to decide whether they want to have it or not.

  • I'll keep an eye on this thanks OP👍😁

    • :)

Get the free trial in the meantime

  • what is the 25 digit code?

    • that's what if gives you after you buy it - you use that to activate it.

I think it's on the eneba purple screens - I think you click a button to display it?

      • yep thanks, I got it. I cannot notice any difference in games. Maybe I need xbox for it. The simulated effect is not that different from regular surround.

  • is it still worth it if we have a external speaker(Edifier)?

    Thanks.

    • Headphones only

    • +1

I'm not sure - I have a feeling it'll still work even if it's not customised for that purpose?

I plan on trying this by playing movies on my pc, sending that to the smart tv.

  • +1

Pretty sure my galaxy s9+ has this,

    Personally don't notice any difference.

    • Yeah but that's on a phone… bad speakers, jammed next to each other… and even with headphones the sound from that might not be that great.

      • Isn't it just the same audio plug in?
Isn't this for headphones as well?

        Isn't atmos atmos?

  • It spends me $5 in total, currency + Paypal services fee.

I redeemed the code via proxy: 170.155.5.235:8080

I can't use PureVPN to complete redemption. it's showing the Geo restrict when I paste the code in.

The only thing I'm worried about is that I can use the Dolby access for up to 10 devices. what about the 11th device?

    • +1

Please let us know if you find a work around . I uninstalled the app, Connected to Argentina via Tunnel bear, changed the Microsoft region to Argentina , reinstalled dolby access app and still getting the region error but on a positive side I can now navigate my Microsoft profile in Spanish ..yaay

      • +1

I've changed my ms account region to Argentina. But I assume if not changed that it still working. Then in Windows settings > proxy, set the proxy 170.155.5.235 port 8080. After that in ms store click the redeem code. it's will show the account is located in Argentina at popup

        • +1

Champion mate, using proxy and redeeming it on ms store app worked

    • If anyone is still having issues - I'll just point out that from memory I'm pretty sure I didn't need to change the MS account location - just used the vpn for Argentina.

  • -1

I tried it and found that there is almost no difference in most situations. When comparing to having it on or off, it makes barely any difference and you have to have the bloody microsoft crapware.

    • You have to play a movie that is coded with Atmos or go on youtube there are few Atmos Dolby samples

      • +1

        YouTube doesn't support Atmos.

    • If anyone can find the 'off' button in there please let me know!

  • +1

If your missing Having a boom mic attached to your headphones, you can attach a modmic they come wired and wireless.

    • hmmm. I'm definitely going to think about getting that or something similar.

It's pretty pricey for just a mic though - has anyone got one?

If so - what version and what do you think of it good and bad?

      Thanks for the info :)

  • +1

Thanks OP. Worked perfect with Nord VPN

    • Second this! Didn't have to change MS Store region either.

    • :)

  • would this be good with Arctis 7?

    • As far as I know - it should be good/improve anything - expensive or cheap?

But I'm not an expert on this software ok.

  • +6

This deal is still available. I picked it up using this link and ended up paying $4.73 AUD

    https://www.eneba.com/store?text=Dolby%20Atmos%20for%20Headp…

Click on Argentina and then in the box below it, the seller that has it listed for €2.10. Delivery was instant.

I purchased using the TunnelBear VPN but activated using the EDGE extension, HOLA VPN. While connected to Argentina, signed into https://redeem.microsoft.com/?wa=wsignin1.0.com . Note that your Microsoft account will still have the (Australia) location listed at the end of the email address when activating the code. You can safely do this IF you are connected to Argentina via the VPN.

Tested with a Sennheiser HD598 and works a treat. Thanks!

    • I wasnt able to redeem,
I done the same thing, purchased using VPN and tried to redeem whilst on VPN but i get: "This code can't be redeemed. It was purchased in a different region from your account."

I must be doing something wrong :(

      • +1

Sign out of your MS accounts, clear browser cache and close them. Relaunch then connect VPN and log in via the MS redemption link. If you still struggle, give the HOLA VPN a go as you can see status on the browser if connected to the correct region. Instructions here: https://www.cjs-cdkeys.com/pages/FREE-VPN-%252b-tutorial%3A-…

I've since uninstalled the extension as i usually use Windscribe\Tunnelbear.

        • +1

Wow! this little bit of info actually worked
          Thanks for that

      • Don't forget popup blockers in browers, and buried in settings in vpns. eg mine is called cybersec in the nordvpn settings.

    • +1

Hola VPN on Edge was it for me, but it feels pretty bad to use.

Ivacy, Tunnelbear and Windscribe all failed for me.

      1) Install Hola VPN on Edge
      2) Install Hola VPN on PC (seriously?)
      3) In Edge extension settings, allow Hola VPN to be used in InPrivate sessions
      4) Start a new InPrivate session and change Hola VPN to Argentina
      5) Redemption process should work fine from here

      • thanks mate, this works. I had no luck with purevpn.

    • :)

  • -1

You can polish a turd but Its still turd.

  • +1

Don't even know why but I got it anyway.

  • Did it all, seems to have registered to my account ok, but going into Xbox it's still stating a license is required.
Xbox setup is still requesting a licensed device is required to be connected.

On the PC side of things, I'm running a brand new MSI B560 with update everything, yet apparently is not compatible with the Atmos setup so won't continue.
I connect the headphones (Sennheiser Momentums), and there is no difference whatsoever to sound quality.

So PC is indifferent, and Xbox doesn't register the purchase/licence (even after uninstalling and reinstalling the Dolby app).

I feel like I've been sold snake oil for $4.73.

If anyone is keen to give it a go, this is what I did step by step:
Leave this web page open in your existing browser, don't close (if you aren't using Chrome).
    Nord VPN to Argentina.
Chrome with a new Incognito window (I never use Chrome for anything else on the pc, just VPN purchases).
Navigate to above link by copy and pasting from existing browser into Chrome.
A little over $2Euro. Pay with Paypal (if you try to use a credit card it'll smack you with a service fee double the Euros)
Keep following all the prompts within the same window until it spits out the code.
Copy that code into a text doc.
Go back to old browser and copy link to MS account.
Copy that into a new Incognito window (with VPN still active).
Sign in as usual, and it'll eventually come to the redeem code screen.
Go to text doc and copy that code.
Give it to MS and confirm redemption.
    Sign out of account.
    Close all browsers.
    Close VPN.
    Done.
Go into your normal browser and sign in to MS account as you normally would with no VPN, to confirm the purchase was successful.

The purchase side of things works fine. Just not sure the Xbox licensing side of things is 100% ok. But for $5, why the hell not. Might come in handy in the future, and I'm not spending $23. God that's bad… handing over $5 for a bargain that doesn't work for me ;).

    • +1

Right click on your sound icon bottom right hand corner. If you see Dolby atmos in the list then its installed correctly. You can also do\see this form the Dolby Access app.

      • Yep, thanks man. On the PC I see it in the right click menu.
I got it mainly for the Xbox though, and licensing restrictions still present there.

        • +1

NP. Sony user here so cant help on the Xbox side. Sorry!

        • maybe write in a post in an xbox forum or something?

    • +1

I bought it to use on Xbox so will see if I have the same issue when I get home.
Already redeemed the code on my account and that worked fine.
I'd be slightly annoyed if I just handed over $5 for something that doesn't even work.

    • +1

Worked on my PC and Xbox. Had to download the app for this to work on both platforms. For the Xbox make sure you're getting the Dolby Atmos app (blue icon) as opposed to the Dolby DTS app.

Edit: before the app worked on the Xbox I noticed it updated a background app for the Microsoft a Store. Can't remember exactly what it was but I'm assuming it links your purchases from PC.

      • Worked on my Xbox as well. It didn't work when I tried it straight after turning on the Xbox but after a couple of minutes of so, it worked.

  • Fun fact, if you have two-factor authentication turned on, you need to sign into a Argentina VPN on your frikken mobile phone as well!?!… lol, had me pulling out my hair for a bit before I figured it out.

    • Which VPN were you using?

  • i cant select dolby atmos for headphones. it made me download dolby access and when i launch it it just disappears

    • same

    • check windows/xbox etc are all up to date

Can always email them for help

  • +1

What's the difference with Dolby Access on MS Store?

    • This one only works for Spanish soundtracks

      • +1

        Ja ja ja ja

  • I cannot seem to redeem the code. Region issue. Tried all the suggestions (VPN tunnel bear , sign out clear cache) but still doesn't work.

Any advice? Maybe tunnel bear doesn't work?

    • I couldn't get Tunnel Bear to work either.

Was still getting the region error message from Microsoft.

Ended up using a trial of VPN Unlimited - worked straight away

    • I'm using nord vpn and each time I tried it failed. I was connecting to the same Argentina #NN server over and over like a mad man and cleared cache numerous times, different browsers without luck.

What finally did the trick was in the nord app, I typed in argentina and it assigned a different server and then logged in with chrome incognito and redeemed normally.

    • Tunnel bear is free and therefor more common than paid vpns (maybe?)

It's possible MS have blocked all or some of their servers?

  • We're paying for brand name equalisers these days?

  • +4

Nice deal though the description reminds me of when I have a bad ADHD day and forget to take meds.

    • +1

My fingers are like dogs sprinting from their owners for dear life with the leash still dragging on the ground behind them.

No ADHD, just a details person who likes to try to help… but yes I write way too much.

  • Do I need to run the app in background or does it work automatically once configured?

    • Automatically, you can choose the sound software used in headset settings (in the xbox settings section) once you have enabled/downloaded it via the Dolby Access app.

      • I am on Windows, so it might be different?

  • I'm hesitant to buy a new headphone as the last one wasn't comfortable for me. Is it actually ok to open the package and then return it on Amazon Prime or eBay Plus? I've read that they say "package can't be open unless fashion product" on Amazon, and "return in same condition when received" on eBay.

    • And why would you ask this question here???

      • Because it was one of the suggestion the OP written in this deal at around line 49 (if you count the empty lines).

    • @kvl07

      lol 'at around line 49'

As I said the key for Amazon is that it must be FULFILLED or DELIVERED by AMAZON. Both words mean the same thing… makes no difference who sells it.

And yes - you could return it after trying it.

If you're not sure - just go talk to them on the phone or live chat and get them to confirm its ok (chat is good cause you have it in writing and get a copy of the transcript).
Make sure you stress you'll open everything and try it out and you want a full refund for 'change of mind' for free.

Remember Ebay plus works too - but again double check with them if it helps you relax.

You need to clarify with them what "return in same condition when received" actually means… could just mean the jeans you bought are still as new - not damaged etc or might mean it has to be in the box etc. But if it's ebay plus or amazon prime delivered by amazon - then I don't think it makes any difference.

There are music stores overseas which do free returns but of course probably not free shipping (unless they have a local address to return too)

The headphone I got were way too tight, but have really loosened up a lot and much much better after I've 'carefully' stretched the band back about 5 times.
But be careful and do it slowly… be warned you could break it!

It did work for me though.

If you have glasses they can complicate things.

It's weird, sometimes I find putting the headphones on over glasses feels worse and hurts eventually.
Whereas, other times it seems to help spread the clamping force and weight?

I've also experimented with putting the headphones on first, then slotting the arms of the glasses just over the headphones pad slightly angled… it's not ideal but it works.

If it's still a problem in a while I might invest in a second pair of those old timey glasses frames that just go on your nose with no arms.
I wonder if anyone does this for games/music production?

      Good luck

  • which app should I download? 'Dodby access' or 'Dodby atmos for headphones'?
