Kinda lame that they only give us a two weeks notice to play 6 games before they leave the service…

    Simply not enough time

    • -3

I thought once you grabbed it into your account then you can play whenever you like.

      • Nope. Once it leaves the game pass, you can't play it. Although in the past, i ve heard of the trick doing that but i think they have patched it

      • You may be thinking of Games with Gold - once you grab those, you can play whenever as long as your Xbox Gold account is active

    • How do you find out when they are removing and or adding things?

I'm new to the PC side of this, I just checked and Control is still there for example but it does not give you any details about when it's leaving?

      cheers

I advise strongly for anyone yet to play Control to give it a go before it leaves.

    • +5

      meh

      • Agree. I'm sure it's quite good but I gave it an hour or so a few months back and it didn't grab me, I won't lose sleep over missing the opportunity.

Actually burning through Max Payne 1 in the background at the moment, between the two, I know which Remedy game I'd pick.

        • From what I read when it launched, it wasn't that great, but since it was such a shit year for games it eventually got more attention than it deserved.

There's better games in my backlog.

@PainToad: Not sure why you’re getting negged, personally I agree that it’s overrated.

            • @[Deactivated]: Cause people get personally offended at the notion of someone sharing a different opinion to theirs.

I don't want to be one of those "it gets good after x hours" people, but Control definitely gets significantly more fun as you unlock abilities. The first hour or two - especially before unlocking telekinesis - is the worst part of the game IMO. I nearly stopped after a couple of hours as I found the map confusing and gameplay boring, and it ended up being my GOTY by a mile.

          • @Madrical: I agree that it gets better once abilities are unlocked.
A friend has it up there as one of his greatest games of all time.
I enjoy it but I find elements clumsy, especially poorly explained things leading to a death that sets you back 30mins of game time. Not a clever trick or trap that adds to the game, just poor design.
For me, games like Prey or Dishonored are better examples of the dark, ability, use environment type games

      • Yeah i'm really struggling to get into it. I dont know if it's the repetitive bland setting, the rather simplistic gameplay, the deliberately off-kilter sound design…

      • It was one of the most boring games I've played. Really don't get why it got reviewed so well.

        • +1

It's alright mate, just leave it to the rest of us and you can go back to flossing in fortnite or whatever

          • @lordezekiel: do you always react in this immature way to anyone who doesn't like what you like?
growing up might do you some good.

      • There is a Control Ultimate Edition copy at my local library that never gets borrowed out so that kinda says a lot for me.

        • +1

Yeah because borrowing video games from the library is all the rage these days lol

        • No library wants to say it's out of Control.

    • Thank goodness I'm just about to finish it . Completely agree, what a great game!

    • +2

Anyone on OzB would've claimed it on Epic by now anyway 😉

    • +1

If it was ultimate edition I would but it's not.

      • Yeah this is why I avoided playing it for now..

    • I have the standard edition, what non-frivolous stuff does the ultimate version add (eg not interested in extra clothes or cash etc)?

Are there new solo campaign maps you can just play after you finish the game?
      extra mutli maps too etc?

  • So many games I struggle to play them all

    • +14

When playing games becomes a chore with deadlines, it's probably time to stop trying to "play them all" and enjoy a few instead.

      • Exactly this! There are so many games, there is absolutely no way we can play everything. I have changed my attitudes from "i have to finish this game in 2 weeks" to "lets look at the list of games in order of adding date and play whatever seems interesting". That way I only play the titles i want but also making sure i can enjoy the older added games first before it get announced to leave (this is not strictly follow - i do play newer added titles). And if there are interesting games leaving, i only check it out to see if i like it enough to buy it in the future, unless the games short enough to finish in a week time

The XGP losses are more telling than the gains this month 🤔

    • +1

We've done pretty well recently so I can't complain.

  • So the Game Pass expiry date leaks were somewhat right. It said The Medium was leaving on 01/02/22, which is spot on it seems

  • Excited for crossfire X

    • Same here for crossfire.. I didn't think it would be out so soon as it's been all quiet on the western front about it.
      Definitely my pick for Feb.

    • Only the MP from what I understand tho

    • I believe only the "Operational Catalyst" part of the campaign will be available on Game Pass. Other campaign part is paid DLC. It's a bit like the old shareware titles in the 90's.

  • Hmm, wonder why this post doesn't get the hate that the video subscription posts get?

    • +2

My guess is because the value of a video game which provides hours and hours of entertainment is higher in some peoples opinion than some B grade trash movie made for streaming services.

      • Fair point! I mean I don't mind either posts, but was just interesting seeing the contrast (and I have game pass and video subscriptions).

        • I personally hate video subscription posts. I still don’t agree with game subscription “deals” but can understand it slightly more.

    • What do you mean Xbox video subscriptions?

      • Not xbox video subscriptions, I'm talking about when a movie or TV series gets posted for services like Netflix, Disney, prime.

  • I've been playing ARK and was just starting to wind up the game after I discovered MS locked the last Genesis 2 DLC behind a pay wall, they've been very sneaky about it too as they give us access to part of the season pass (Genesis 1) but not the rest.

  • Pretty keen on Skul: The Hero Slayer, very well reviewed by critics and gamers.

    My type of game.
