2x Subway Footlongs any 2x cookies, any 2x drinks and scan your Subcard to receive a free floating footlong.

Wait a few hours and a second free floating footlong comes out the other end. Results may vary.

    • Ah the principle for the conservation of mass.

      • Equivalent exchange

I can't eat a floating footlong! Should call it a Footlong pooltoy

Your comment reminds of that pool scene in Caddyshack

Call it an inflatable footlong like the article does to avoid confusion..

  • Why?

  • +14

    Perfect, more plastic landfill.

    • Yep, good to see Subway being environmentally responsible for more brand awareness.

    • Is there a more environmentally friendly inflatable pool toy? Or is this just good old virtue signaling?

      • Is there a more environmentally friendly inflatable pool toy?

I'm not sure it meets the definition of "pool toy", but the good old car inner-tube, made of vulcanised rubber, will eventually biodegrade after a very long time. Most plastics never biodegrade.

However, I believe modern inner tubes and tyres are not vulcanised, apparently radiation is used to have the same effect. I had a quick look on Google, and can't find a direct answer as to whether radiation-crosslinked rubber degrades the same as vulcanised rubber.

        • I appreciate your effort, its far better than yelling at a cloud.

          • @Richmond Tigers: You're reading into what I wrote in the wrong way. I'd rather people think twice before getting this in the first place. The last thing we need is more microplastics in the water. First of the 3 R's: reduce.

            • @Jenny Death: My guess is that however many have been made is however many will be made being a limited item, so either way they'll end up in landfill, purchased or not.

              • @Richmond Tigers: If the promos a success it incentivises future similar ones. A good example of these sort of promotions listening to negative feedback is Coles little shop ending because of the concerns raised about so many of them ending up in landfill.

The last footlong I saw in a swimming pool was brown and squishy.
It smelt terrible but that didn't stop the children trying to play with it.

    • +1

the children are competing who can make the longest one…

Got mine today, it's kinda huge at 200cm x 48cm

    • +1

Can you handle it all at once?

  • Can we just start putting up pictures of Jared Will as a thumbnail. Be brave Oz bargains.

    • +1

Don't you mean Jared Fogle? Who is Jared Will?

    • I think it's very short-sighted that they don't want people using their images. If I was to use a photo of what I actually received it would discourage people from shopping there.

    which ones are participating!?

    I don't trust these deals.

All the franchises near me won't honor these deals. And this has happened to me at least 10 or more times.

    So Subway can get stuffed.

    • +4

There are some pretty horrible franchise owners. I've had some really inconsistent subs and treatment from Subway.

      • +2

For sure there is a difference, by in large they are good.

But some are bad. I recently ordered a sub from the app at subway that was in practice closed, and they actually stole my money and haven't refunded me 3 weeks later - joke.

    • I agree,

I literally had a coupon that in the coupon's T&Cs it was still valid and can be used at X store….. the manager's excuse was "not this subway" and I said, "This is the only subway in this suburb and the coupon actually state your suburb".

I refused the subway they created, so that's wasted food and money to them and also contacted Subway HQ with the proof and they apologised and gave me a free sub coupon lol

got it today. server made me purchase the most expensive drink 600ml and i think stuffed up the transaction so i lost about $3.85 since i asked to buy 3x $20 gift cards paid with amex cards to get credit offer. then i asked to use my subcard account that had $6 on it and pay the difference with the gift cards. i never was given a final receipt only the receipts for the gift cards and i cant check their remaining balances until a few days later as ive now merged them to my subcard account. store wont answer the phone and the gift card telephone is managed by call centre in NZ who never answer the phone. left message for both hopefully they will call back.

    • +8

I'm confused just reading that, i feel a bit sorry for the poor server.

      • +3

TL;DR: dude paid $66 for a free inflatable footlong.

    • I wouldn't answer your call either

  • Hell yeah inflatable pool poo!

That’ll get the chicks rolling over for a fun skinny dip at your place!

  • "… and scan your subcard".

I just opened an account on their webpage, downloaded their app into my phone (Android), and it displays an error when I try to go to the login page.

I recall this app being unusable since years ago - can't believe they haven't made it good yet.

    • I've copied my Subcard number to the loyalty card app like "Stocard" and it would work as usual.
Somehow it is useful when their login page is not working.

If you don't know the Subcard number, try to reset the password using your email address and it will reveal your Subcard number in your password reset email.

OK so tried it out today and it's insanely impractical. Fully inflated it's virtually impossible to get onto, although I do have some hilarious footage of kids wiping themselves out as they attempted to mount it.

After letting some air out it's a bit more manageable, but unlikely to be a regular feature in our pool as it's just too much hard work (which is the opposite of what you want from an inflatable toy).

  • perhaps we can do a collective effort like this dominos deal - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/680051
