Do these things actually work well on beards?

    • +2

Just gave mine a shot on a dry beard for 2 mins and for me the result is noticeably better than using a hairdryer and basic comb. I also don't end up nuking my face, shoulders and chest with the hairdryer which is a big plus.

I normally comb through hairdryer after the morning shower and a few drops of beard oil. It never gets tamed properly though and flares out quickly after due to how curly mine is. I'm hopeful that tomorrow when I try it as part of the morning routine that it will work even better than it just did on a dry beard.

      • Awesome, sounds promising. Just purchased the item via eBay route.

        Cheers

Just to add, I have a pretty long/thick beard and it works really well. General rule of thumb I've found is that if my beard isn't thick enough for the individual 'teeth' of the comb to nearly disappear in my beard, it doesn't work as well. Does the same job my Dyson Hairdryer does, at a much cheaper price point, but I'm not super happy about the heat that the comb puts into my beard vs the hairdryer with changeable heat settings.

$18 delievered for Plus members on eBay using code PLUSJAN5

  • Do thes things work? Had to laugh. Never thought these things existed. $18 not to much to give it a try I guess.

    • I had got this from previous deal, used just twice so far, sort of makes beard crisp and hard but personally didn’t find much useful

I bought ones from Aldi, while it did get hot. We did see a little difference in straightening the hair. Returned it back

    Does this work "downstairs"?

    • +9

You really want to put anything hot down there…

  • Any recommendation for Hair Straightening Brush (no heat / no wires)?

  • +3

Bought one full price. I have quite a long and bushy beard and from my experience it doesn't make much of a difference. It helps hold your beard in shape rather than actually straighten and make less bushy. I'd recommend for a short beard less than 3 inches in length, and especially if you're trying to establish a good beard shape before growing it out - but not for an already established long beard. Bargain nonetheless.

  • does this work in the private areas?

    asking for a friend.

Based on this deal, I bought the rotating styler recommended from this comment. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/655515#comment-11156255

I've got to say, seems to work pretty well with my unruly beard.

    • +1

If I don't get the results I'm after with the Wahl over the next week I'll consider getting that one.

EDIT: Pretty cool that it rotates automatically as it blows hot air.

Yeah I used a roller brush/hair dryer separately before this, and this works much better. Very hassle free. Can swap direction so you can push the beard in depending what side.
Con: Not the manliest product and my wife teases me fore it.

  • Good gift for a sis with curly hair?

    • +2

It's advertised as a beard comb and the packaging is quite manly - so in terms of gift maybe not unless she has no qualms with receiving a man's heated beard comb.

The VS Sassoon heated straightening brush in the comment above might be the better choice.

I do think that you might need to research more into hair types and comb patterns, as this beard comb has quite a sparse comb (which I think is suited for thick and curly hair), while the VS Sassoon one might be better for thin/wavy/straight hair due to having a more dense comb and also rotates.

  • Bpught one of these from the last deal, it's pretty much useless. no wonder they're still trying to flog them off.

  • This has expired now, back up to $79.95

  • Hi All,

The deal is back at $18.95 for the next 7 days. Stock is limited!
