The sort of mic you should be looking at for podcasting (or gaming) if you dont plan to acoustically treat your space or have concerns about background noise, and you dont wanna pony up many times as much for the like of an Electrovoice RE20 or SM7B dynamic that the broadcast pros use.
Specifically tuned for vocals. Ideally you want the gain of an audio interface, but they dont require phantom power like condenser mics.
Large Diaphragm Condensers really arent the ideal mic for gaming/podcasting despite how many people want them.
An alternative might be the Sennheiser E935 depending on the tone you prefer (they have been lower than this) or moving up to the AKG D7 or Sennheiser E945 or similar.
Great price for a gigging singer to get a hands on a supercardioid mic. I have heard good things about the D5 when looking to upgrade my Shure SM58's, but went Sennheiser E945 after borrowing one for an actual gig and being very impressed with the quality.
