Philips Hue Motion Sensor $50 + $6.95 Standard Shipping (Free Shipping with Club Catch) @ Catch.com.au

80

Needed another one of these now my toddler is able to open his bedroom door. Seem to be pretty much retail everywhere except catch. I got a price beat @ Officeworks today for $54.10. Not the cheapest I’ve paid but not bad.

$49 at Bunnings if you've got one closeby https://www.bunnings.com.au/philips-hue-home-automate-indoor…

    • Oh missed that, mine never seems to have any hue products in stock anymore so didn’t bother.

Edit- that link doesn’t seem to work for me. I get the we hit a snag page.

      • Yeah, that's weird. I just searched Hue on the Bunnings site and it shows the exact same link as what @PowerB posted (and I got the same Snag page too)???

Can’t you just use the Ikea one?

    • Does IKEA one work with Hubitat and has light sensitivity sensor too?

      • ikea one isn't that great, it has a 3 minute cooldown before it can be reactivated.

        • Cygnet one is pretty decent.
          Aqara is great too.
          All work with deconz

    • Not with hue eco system natively

  • also consider the aqara option if you're running HA or other - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/678284

Wow, the Covid tax is terrible. I remember buying them pre-covid for ~$35
Weird times when consumer electronics appreciate (Consoles, graphic cards, even home automation)

  • IKEA is buggy and have tried hooking up aqara with smart things as well and didn't work that well. Ended up sticking with the hue but waiting for amazon to get them to 30-40

    • Yeah I remember buying them in the low $40’s. Good ole days.

Yeah, I stocked up on the old Ikea sensors at $5 each. Better days :)

You can connect the Ikea sensors direct to Hue bulbs, but it is a bit of a pain, and there are no smarts as the Hue Bridge does not see them.

I have them hooked up to Home Assistant, works great. They are all over the house. Would not want to be spending $50 each!!

  • Have been using it and very happy with it but it's still a bit pricey.

  • I have Hue, Aqara, and Sonoff motion sensors. The Hue is the most reliable, most accurate and also measures temperature and light levels, giving me three sensors in one. Most likely if they ever drop to $30 or so I'll buy a few and replace my existing sensors.

The sonoffs seem pretty poorly made. The aqaras are decent but I'm still forming an opinion on how decent.

I bought an IKEA one to test, but it only arrived today.

    • Aqara can monitor temp lux as well but not native with hue automation

      • The lux reading on the Aqara is a bit useless though, as it isn't real time. You can't create an automation like "switch on the light if the lux level falls below X", because the lux level doesn't update in a way that allows this. Even the motion sensor itself has a minimum reset time (which I can't remember offhand). The Aqara sensor is ok for things like "switch on the light when someone walks into the room" but anything more complex is an exercise in frustration.

The Hue sensor costs more, but it does everything properly.

    • I use hue and aqara and agree that the hue is more reliable. In the same room, the aqara doesn't pick up motions from time to time so have to wave my hands at it. The magnetic mounting for the hue is great too, mines attached to the corner of the wall there the plaster trim protector is.

Only problem is that is very expensive compared to the aqara.

      • I have a few aqaras in my house and they are all instant to report the motion. Hue magnetic mount is no doubt great but you can do the same with aqara.

    • Still doesn't show on bunnings searches for me.

  • Anyone happen to have a 10% off student beans from Catch to get this? Absolute champion if you do.
