    Hmm

Standard price of 75/kg is a lot more than some of the best roasters around (alchemy, danes, delano, etc).

The discounted price is what the others are charging on a normal day for a kg.

Danes and co would sell a blend for this price - unlikely you'll get a high scoring single like this for the same price.

Totally agree. Market Lane are one of the very top roasters and in their bracket. Kg bags of single origin are all $75+ with top roasters. I just bought a kg of a Christmas Special blend (Plum Cracker) from Single O for $75 so $75 for a quality single origin is really good.

I know that we get some great deals from the like of Airjo and I'm a customer if theirs to. But at $45 this is still a bargain.

    • Yeah, maybe for some coffee aficionados it’s worth it, but $80+/kg is waaaay too much

Even at 1/2 price, I’ll stick with my Aldi 1kg bags

      • +3

Some people drink Woodstock and cola, some drink a single cask neat. Both are whiskey but completely different price points. Not that the ALDI is bad, but it's a completely different target market.

      • To each their own, but the cost of a quality single origin coffee isn't that high when you compare it to other drinks:

        • A beer will cost you $50/24 = $2.08, $7 a pint at the pub

        • A long black will cost you $5 at the coffee shop (usually for a meh espresso blend)

        • A can of coke on special at Coles now = 19.9/24 = $0.83 a can

        • A single origin @ $75/kg will cost you (17g dose) = 75*17/1000 = $1.28 per cup

        • A single origin @ $45/kg will cost you (17g dose) = 45*17/1000 = $0.77 per cup

    • Where's the magical single origins being sold for less than $45/kg from the roasters you listed? Compare the right things.

        Here: https://www.goodcoffeeproject.com/products/guatemala-santa-i…

$55/kg for exactly the same beans.
$75/kg is too much mark up.

Read the question again. Nice try.

        • -1

You have partially made you point here but it's still not $45. Furthermore, $55 seems to be a special offer because all of the other beans that they sell for $20 per 250g on their website seem to then be $68 per kg.
