I’ve had a bunch of different mini/small multi tools and the quality of the Micra is much higher than the vast majority of other ones floating around, mine is over 10 years old and it gets used semi regularly and I’ve never had an issue with it, the only other mini I’ve stayed with is the gerber dime which is mini pliers vs the mini scissors of the Micra, these days if I needed to replace either of them I wouldn’t even look at any other unless someone give me a blinder of a recommendation.

I'm a victorinox and Leatherman fan so paying the higher price tag is worth it. Not to the mention the much higher quality of steel and reliability.

If you're after a multitool for under $10 this would be a good option https://www.kmart.com.au/product/6-in-1-multi-tool-with-torc…

Only worth $10 for a Leatherman Micra Tool? I don't think so my friend….normally priced at around $80.You obviously aren't familiar with the quality of this brand. This is good buying at $41.99 shipped.

  • This any good?

      This?

  • Leatherman still top of the tree for durability & build quality

I've had the micra previously but I still have my mini from the early 90s. I've found it's a lot more practical having pliers as the main tool instead of scissors. The mini has since been discontinued, not sure if there is a replacement for it? https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,51657.0.html

The one I use is the Leatherman Squirt PS4, but that will be smaller than the mini tool.

Would you know if the Squirt PS4 is the smallest of all the Leatherman? I got a Micra and I like its size. But having to open it fully to take the knife out is very uncomfortable, and even dangerous, as you could cut yourself with the edge of the closed scissors if you don’t fold the tool after you’ve taken the knife out (sorry a bit hard to explain).

Yes, the PS4 is their smallest multi tool with a pair of pliers and scissors. It is even smaller than the Micra. The knife is assessible whilst the pliers are closed. I understand what you mean regarding the Micra knife. IMHO, the PS4 is the best micro size tool available. I have used it in many occasions and the pliers have been really handy. I think if you appreciate the Micra's size, you will like the PS4.

Yeahhhh have to say the scissors are kind of bad design after a time.

However the return mechanism works for the blade after a couple hundred cuts the metal is still sharp but it doesn't spring open as readily.

It is a very useful mini-tool for hiking, especially if I'm planning on being away 4/5+ days.
I have basically no need for pliers when hiking, but plenty of uses for small scissors that don't involve me messing around with a tiny fingernail opening system.
