This is a fantastic keyboard and mouse set for the price.
I’ve upgraded to the Logi ergo K810 recently which is better but for half the price and including a mouse…. You won’t be unhappy with this

    • +3

But OzB only allows Mechanical Keyboards. Hehe

    • +1

Do you mean the Logitech ergo K860?
I don't believe the K810 is from the Ergo line.

If it is the K860, where did you buy it? I don't believe it's available in Australia yet.

      • +2

        Sorry K860.
I got it from office works, price matched to MWAVE.
I think amazon might sell it too.

It’s the best keyboard I’ve ever owned.. pricey, but amazing.
The Bluetooth selector is great and I combined the unifying controller with my MX vertical

The Logitech looks nice but fixed numpad sucks. as it pushes the mouse further out. The MS Sculpt has a separate numpad that you can omit.

If the Logitech did a numpad-less or separate numpad iteration of their Ergo I'd switch from my current MS Ergo to the Logitech (prefer the Logitech keys).

    • Thanks for this comment. Was going to get the Sculpt but I found the Logi K860 for $159 / $151 @OW

Just a bit of a heads up with this keyboard, the function keys (F1 - F8) have a tendency to get stuck, where the key when pressed will stick under the slot it occupies, you can jiggle it out to fix it.

    • +6

Have been using one for years and that has never happened. Is yours newer?

    • +1

Never happened to me, maybe your unit is faulty? The space key got similarly stuck on the first one I purchased which I returned and replaced with a good one.

    • Never happened to me on mine that I've been using for years, and being a developer I use them a lot.

    • +2

Also a developer, happened to me occasionally. Nothing too bad but annoying. Have bought the keyboard again though, so didn't put me off.

    • Bought it from last deal posted in 2015 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/227695. Sadly the shift key stopped working after 6 months. Returned and got full refund from Officework

  • Thanks galenp!

  • +2

Had it and hated it. The angle is just not something i could get used to. Recommend trying it before buying.

    • +1

It’s like a vertical mouse.. takes 2-3 weeks to adjust

  • +3

    cured my rsi

    • +1

Ditto. Highly recommended for anyone with RSI. I can't type on anything else these days.

  • I have it and works well for me!

  • +4

I have this and am using it for WFH as a software developer.
    Has been great for ergonomics.
I've used 3 different Microsoft ergo models and this is by far the best.
Apparently the Logitech is better, but over twice the price.

This has some nice features such as the included magnetic riser that sits under the keyboard to make the depth-wise angle flat, and both the kB and mouse have magnetic battery doors too.

Less actuation pressure compared to the other ms ergo KBS too which has further increased my typing speed.

I alternate between windows 10 and latest OSX too and there are no compatibility issues in my experience.

I haven't been using the numpad, but being separated is great as you can get your mouse hand closer to the keyboard touch points for ergonomics by either using the numpad on the left, or not using it at all.
Way better than the other ergo KBS that have attached numpad.

Often for ergo it is recommended that people switch to using their left hand for mouse to reduce risk of RSI, but most mice are of course molded to right hand use. For me though the ability to numpad on the left is great, as I'm left handed, so switching to left hand mouse would be worse for rsi.

This is the review we are looking for! Thanks

      • no worries mate. from memory I got mine for around this price too by matching msy at officeworks at the time.
I can't comment much on the mouse unfortunately as I don't really use it, I have a logitec mx ergo (the track ball one) that i use instead, though there is nothing wrong with the mouse either. does its job and is somewhat ergonomic, but not in the realm of logitec ergo and vertical or evoluent stuff.

  • Great deal! Should be able to go an Officeworks price beat too??

  • I have used this kit for many years (5+?) and absolutely love it. Not for gaming, that's for sure. But great for its intended purpose. Thinking about ordering a spare at this price.

Note: One issue I have had with mine is random issues in using USB 3 ports. Not sure if this was just an early firmware issue or something.

  • Second what some others have said, having this at work with the Logitech MX Ergo completely got rid of my RSI.

If you get Officeworks to price beat Umart, you can grab the MX Ergo for ~$100 - https://www.umart.com.au/product/logitech-mx-ergo-mouse-4325…

EDIT: This Kensington one looks good too and uses AA instead of an inbuild battery - https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B084JPCWNP

  • Thanks OP, got 1!

Used to have one - liked it. Unfortunately the usb receiver was plugged in to my laptop and when I put the laptop in a bag it snapped it in half (it’s not small like Logitech one unless they’ve changed it since). Means the keyboard and mouse ended up in bin as the receiver can’t be replaced. So be careful :)

    • Yes, I wouldn't use this or any other input device that can't be re-paired (pun not intended!) unless it spends its whole life sitting on a desk.

    • Yeah, I loved this keyboard/mouse but after someone used my desk at work one day and took off with the dongle (no idea wtf they were doing, keyboard and mouse were still there, pulled the dongle out of my dock rather than plug their laptop into the dock) and it became a paperweight I won't buy another.

Shame they won't just make it bluetooth.

  • I'm using one of these at the moment, I miss having the numpad and the enter key on the side so much. The keyboard itself is pretty comfortable.

  • this is the best KB by far. had about 5 for the last 10 years.

  • Does anyone have clicking issues with the mouse? Had a couple sets of these and all had issues around double clicking, or clicks not registering, etc. Still the same?

    • Yes, my mouse stops registering clicks after >2y and just got a mx master 3 as replacement. Keyboard still working fine though.

  • +3

if you spend many hours at your desk and have RSI or other issues this is likely the best ergonomic keyboard/mouse on the market. It is similar enough to mainstream keyboards/mice that the learning curve for typing is fairly easy to overcome and does not destroy your ability to use a normal keyboard like some of the more eccentric ergonomic designs.

The logitech mentioned by others has the numberpad attached to the main keyboard at all times which is a hard pass for me because it forces you to have your hands too far apart in normal use. for many people this can cause issues such as shoulder/neck pain. I also don't know if the logitech allows negative tilt which is important and very hard to find in the market.

I have used this keyboard at home and at work for over 5 years and it was basically the difference between being able to work and not for me, so when that is at stake, the sticker price is a bargain. its a steal at this discounted price if you are experiencing these issues (and it addresses the cause; posture, desk etc. can also come into it)

As good as it is ergonomically , it isn't without quality issues. My mice last about 3 years before the left click button fails, which is apparently a common fault. As other's have mentioned, the F5 keys get stuck as well, but I've always been able to just re-seat them so I don't consider it a real issue. The other issue for longevity is the wrist wrest. The material will get grubby. I cleaned mine with soapy water once or twice, but the material has degraded over the years. probably has about 2-3 good years before it becomes too manky to have on display in an office environment. I have been thinking of buying some thin leather to have a crack at replacing the covering myself, which looks possible, but a bit of a hassle, would be great if they sold leather replacements that just screwed in. All these issues aside, I still buy them and use them because for eronomics, there is nothing better on the market imo.

The only keyboard I have been using for the past 7 years.

  • Great keyboard except I wish it didn't use a switch for the function keys… switch.
Can re-map some keys with eg. PowerToys to alleviate this.

  • Great keyboard and mouse combo. Really helped relieve the pain on my wrist while WFH. I'm on my 2nd set because I broke the usb adapter while it was still plugged into my laptop and forgot to unplug before tossing the lot into my bag.

  • Amazon showing as $123 now

  • I have the non Sculpt model of this and have been disappointed with it. I really like the ergonomics and feel of it, but the positioning of the function keys and the other utility keys drives me batshit crazy. It is basically impossible to, by feel, find function keys because there are none of the usual gaps between the number row and the function keys, and none of the usual 4-key grouping of function keys.

I've had it for almost a year and still haven't mastered it; I usually don't have this many hassles adapting to a new keyboard but I simply can't see how normal touch typists could use this thing without getting frustrated..

  • Finally a keyboard that incorporates a tissue dispenser…

  • a great keyboard WITHOUT freacking numpad, this is the best part about it, the mouse is very good too. The first one lasted about 7 years and then "esc" gave up (I use the "vim" editor a lot) so I got a new one a year ago, no problems so far - no stuck keys, no dead mice.

  • Great price!

The only problem I have is the disconnection for the keyboard (not mouse) or hibernating in the middle of typing which is quite interrupting.

I have changed my Bluetooth power management setting to allow the device to wake the computer but still doesn't work.

I also tried to replace the keyboard battery or use a different laptop (HP and Dell).

A workaround is to lift the keyboard a little bit higher than the table and bump to wake it up.

Is anyone facing the same issue? I can see there are some people complaining.

    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/d00a955c-c…

Any solution? Or should I send it back for a warranty, just bought it over a year I believe.

    • +1

I've never had the keyboard hibernating issue that you describe and I've been using mine daily for probably 3-4 years at this point. I'd return it.

    • There is no Bluetooth on this though?

  • +1

Just bought one from HN as the Amazon deal is expired.

    Thanks OP.

  • looks like it's still in stock..??

    • Not on Amazon, unless you want to pay full price of ~$180

  • +1

Only other thing for this is whilst I just bought another 2 sets, you can't manually pair separate keyboards and mice to receivers. I replaced my mouse from this set with a separate mouse, but had to use two dongles. Minor pain, but a pain.

  • Is this good for people with wrist injuries?

Just seems annoying to use a keyboard with my current laptop, I have to sit further back 😬

  • +4

Looks like OW has it as well for the same price:

    https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/microsoft-…

    • Yes I just bought from them.

  • I've used this keyboard/mouse combo. The mouse left click stopped working after a few months, I was using it as my work keyboard/mouse. I don't recommend it due to the mouse.

  • Have two of these. One I bought, and one company provided for WFH.
    Very good price.

  • i have used these for many years. really love it. bought another one as a backup. Had one odd issue with the keyboard when it just stopped working after 4years but thats abt it.

  • +1

Hey guys this price is still available from Officeworks, just purchased one to take to the office prior to writing this comment.
Delivery has a fee, but all stores in ACT have stock for free C&C so other regions probably do too.

OP I've submitted this info as a report "other" so maybe mods will update it? Otherwise I'm happy for you to update it here, rather than me making a new deal post.

Since Amazon is OOS and today is a public holiday, I wouldn't be surprised if the Officeworks price goes back up tomorrow.

  • Looks like back in stock, for now

    • Usually dispatched within 1 to 2 months.

  • Order cancelled by amazon….

    • Same, no available stock.
