ZOOB Traveler 40 (Moving, Mind-Building Modeling System) Is $12.99 at Aldi ($20.95+ Elsewhere)

ZOOB is a building set with a difference. The pieces move after being put together. So kids can play with their ZOOB creations, instead of just looking at them.

ZOOB is an open-ended play system that is quick to learn and easy to use. Kids can create simple models in minutes, or get absorbed and spend hours at a time.

Five different ZOOB units connect more than 20 different ways to form joints that rotate, limbs that extend and axles that spin. Based on the way things connect, move and transform in nature, ZOOB captures dynamic movement, unlike traditional "stacking" or "hub & spoke" construction sets. Its ball & socket units easily snap, click, slide, and pop together to form creations that go far beyond stationary models; and like crayons or clay, ZOOB allows kids (and adults) to learn, explore and create using their imaginations. If you can imagine it, ZOOB can animate it… from dinosaurs to DNA strands, from animals to aliens.

The ZOOB Traveler 40 includes 40 ZOOB pieces, three instruction guides, a foam play pad, and a clear vinyl zipper bag with an adjustable strap. The play pad grips ZOOB pieces and holds them in place, but also lets kids move and rotate the pieces. Every ZOOB piece comes with a lifetime guarantee.

What makes ZOOB different from other building sets?

  • The pieces move after kids put them together
  • It's great for boys and girls
  • Versatility—unlimited, open-ended building options
  • Intuitive—fast to learn and easy to use
  • Built-in educational value

Looks like a great item - however the specials were available as of the 4th of April …. good luck on finding any still in store.

    Thanks anyway to the poster

    • There were still plenty in our local store late in the week. I saw it but had no idea what it was/did. Thanks for posting OP - it sounds like just the thing for growing minds.

  • Plenty in Wollongong store as well! Thought it was like a lego thing or something.

  • Don't even remember where we got ours from but we had some of this stuff ages ago. Not bad though. Compared to something like Lego you can make something bigger much quicker, as well as being able to re-pose your creation.

The only shortcoming is it's not the most durable toy out - the socket bits (that the ball bits fit into) break after a while if your kids are a bit rough with it.
