Samsung Galaxy Note N7000 (UNLOCKED) Mobile Phone $515 Incl PH from DWI or +2% Paying CC/PayPal

57

Just hunting for a Galaxy Note and came across this from DWI. Seems to be the cheapest around, but I'm not sure of the warranty details. It's stated as "1 year warranty for Samsung", which may not mean Samsung Australia, but I'm guessing Kogan, Topbuy etc have similar warranties.

Anyway, I thought this might help those who are also looking to buy this phone for cheap.

EDIT: most will buy using credit cards or paypal for better security, and i've just realised that these guys have a surcharge for it. Not as good of a deal as i first thought.

With a company motto of "WE DO NOT MAKE LOSS FOR ANY ORDER", anyone buying from DWI must be extremely tight to want to take that risk for the sake of $20 or so.

    • +2

Yep, at this price I'd have most likely bought if it was another company.

IMHO, deals from DWI (or their sneaky aliases) should be banned here for DWI themselves being serial douchebags!

    • i haven't used dwi before, so reading these comments about the retailer themselves is much appreciated. the closer i get to pulling the trigger, the more i'm seeing deal breakers too. but at the same time, what might be considered unacceptable risk for some, might not be a concern for others.

    • what is wrong with a business not wanting to make a loss. i thought all businesses were like that, otherwise they would be called a charity

      • +4

Its wrong because its a blanket policy, so they apply it even when they are totally in the wrong, which leaves you, the customer, out of pocket for no reason other than they want to always maintain their profit margin at any and all costs.

What you don't realise bbyboy, is that the circumstances under which they employ this policy/tactic are essentially bait & switch at best, or closer to sheer blackmail IMHO.

How would you feel if you ordered an advertised product, paid for it, had your payment taken & were told that your order was processed only to hear back from DWI a few days later with some lame excuse like their supplier had increased the price since you ordered; or aliens had landed & attacked their trucks; or the dark lord Cthulu bought up all the stocks; but essentially that you would have to pay more to get the same product you'd already paid for???

'Hey, that's not legal in Australia' you say…and you'd be right under Aussie consumer protection law. 'So why doesn't the ACCC rip them a new one' you ask? Well, interesting scenario…

The only reason they get away with it is that they are essentially HK based, with only the most minimal presence in Australia, so the ACCC can do little it seems…hence the warnings of everyone here, caveat emptor! ;)

        • i didnt realised that happened. but what im saying is a business is there to make money, that is essentially what is a business is for

        • How does a business make money if nobody wants to do business with them due to their dodgy dealings?

    • Agreed

    then go Kogan, 2yr warranty

  • cheapest price for White Galaxy Note. I have been waiting for this deal to buy White Galaxy Note :)

    • I'm looking for a white one too

Whilst their prices are very competitive, bear in mind that you shouldn't expect much in the way of customer service or after sales support, I purchased a Galaxy SII late last year and had to send it back for warranty shortly after, it wasn't a pleasant experience to say the least and I certainly would rather pay the extra $30 at the time and purchased form Kogan for the peace of mind. Phone is working great now, but just something to be aware of should you get a faulty item from them.

Kogan's reputation doesn't seem to be that good either, sending units with broken seals and saying it could have been opened by customs. I've had 1 parcel delivered to me from the US that was opened by customs but had a letter from them explaining why. Why try to save $20 or so only to risk getting screwed over?

  • It's probably worth paying particular attention to the 2% surcharge for PP & CC transactions. Given DWI's significant level of scumbaggery, there's no way you'd pay without some level of protection.

Therefore, the price really should reflect the extra $10.30 they're gonna slug you for that, making the actual price $525.30!

2% is about average. Qantas are a lot worse.

      • You missed the point entirely.

it's $522 @ eglobal inc. shipping with no surcharge for paypal. i bought a white galaxy note from them a while back without too much hassle it arrived the day after it was dispatched. Although ive heard that DWI = eglobal?

    • white +$14 is ridiculous.

    • Although ive heard that DWI = eglobal?

Correctamundo! See what I meant by "sneaky aliases".

  • +2

Yup dwi= eglobal. Ie. Avoid like the plague!

  • +2

I have bought lots of gear from Eglobal over time. I have found them the cheapest on the net. Why avoid them?

  • Negged dwi

Always a negative for DWI, based on their previous behaviour.

Any potential buyers need to STAY AWAY.

  • Based on my personal experience a definite negative

    • Ah same here. Not worth the frustration being told to send some more money on top of what I've paid, otherwise they wouldn't send the phone. It's blackmail, I had to pay ransom for a phone I had previously paid as per their advertised price. Not to mention hassling with them back and forth, really inconvenient.

Just pay a bit more to a respectable shop and enjoy peace of mind.

  • just an update for you guys. I placed an order on the weekend and made payment via Bank Deposit. Payment was cleared on Tuesday and the white Galaxy Note has been dispatched to me on the same day (Tue) via DHL. I also received tracking number via email.

I should be able to get the phone by Thursday so it is actually quite fast service provided they have stock. I emailed them and was told they have plenty of stocks.
