I spoke to the manager at my local EB. He said they managed to secure a large allocation. Supply is getting filled up alot more for Xbox but PS5 is still really hard to get allocation.
So either demand is much higher for PS5 or Microsoft has managed to address the production issues better than Sony
Both statements are true. PS5 is harder to get and selling more and Microsoft now has discontinued making Xbox one to focus on Series S/X.

I still think we're still at least a few months away before we can walk into a store and find them readily available on shelves.
Last year I saw a guy pick up his PS5 pre-order from EB games. It was Saturday lunch and the store was busy. Anyway there was a crowd of people watching him at the counter taking ownership. Some kids in awe that he had a PS5 and asking to see the box etc.
I watched him speak to a few people and someone jokingly said "I'll buy it for $1500". The guy said sure, I'll meet you out the front of the store. You have 30 mins to get cash. After 30mins I'm leaving to play my PS5.
After hearing this half the store waited around and sure enough a PS5 was purchased for $1500
TBH I had a similar experience just before Xmas.
I collected my PS5 pre-order and the couple lined up behind me were in awe and congratulated me, also had some people outside the store congratulate me tooWerid experience, Almost felt I was going to be mugged for it.
It's insane to think you can't go to a retail store and pick one up over a year after release.
In saying that, There aren't that many good reasons to get one if I was being honest.I enjoyed Spiderman and Rachet and Clank but nothing to make me gush over it.
My old PS4 Pro was still doing it's job and whilst it's a nice device, there aren't that many must have titles.I'm inclined to think that the low stock and pent up demand makes people want it more than they really would have if there wasn't a supply issue.
Also age might have a factor to play, being close to my mid 30's, the lack of time and energy has dulled my gamer instincts.
Don't get me wrong, I still love gaming but the magic probably peaked in the good old PS2 daysYeah I agree, I can't name a must have game right now that is on the ps5, whereas can get cheap $10 games for ps4 and play those instead. I mean can use a ps5 for slightly better graphics but mmm.
Yeah back then looking forward to final fantasy, gran turismo, not the same now.
Ps5 prices also dropping, maybe people that really want it already have 1 and people that aren't crazy about it don't want to pay a few hundred more for one.
We've got a PS5, there's a much bigger shortage in quality games for it than there is semi conductors. Also you know PS5 is literally junk compared to top end PCs right? Hell my motherboard almost cost as much as your PS5.

As much as I cant stand Telstra, their deal is the way to go to truly enjoy the Series X (2 year ultimate game pass included)
um min cost is 1100 dollars all up, 24 mouth plan…yep sure better deal.
So the option to pay it off over 24 months and ultimate game pass as opposed to $750 RRP from eb with no guarantee of getting stock and NO games or gamepass…I think I'm onto something

@Rukiata: For an XBox plus Ultimate Game Pass, not just an XBox Series X, which is $16 per month or $384 for 2 years.
@Buyingcrap: I did the Gold to Ultimate a year or so back, haven't looked at other options yet. I might check that out.
Talked to an EB Chadstone staff today and they did not hear anything about XBOX Series X allocation. Not a good sign but she still ensured me that they will arrive on 1st of Feb. Fingers crossed as it will be the first day of Lunar New Year!
Staff member was probably not important enough to know about stock levels and arrival dates. They have cracked down on who knows this info since the things that were happening at another retailer

Staff from EB Victoria Park (WA) said that they are expecting stock from tomorrow onwards.
Spoke with a rep from the Chapel St (VIC) store a few days ago; they advised that the stock "likely won't arrive by 1 Feb" but said it'd be sometime during Feb.
I'm taking that with a grain of salt though, as I've heard that the frontline store staff often aren't in the loop with regards to shipment details. Either way, here's hoping it arrives on time. 🤞Heard nothing from Fountain Gate. Not looking good for pickup tomorrow.
Checked with Chadstone staffs today and they said they have not heard anything yet. They said they would call me if stock arrived tomorrow but looks like pick up date of 1st Feb won’t happen :sigh:

Updated: Called in EB Chadstone at 10:42am today. Line was busy which is quite unusual for a Tuesday morning. Either they are giving out calls to preorder or else.

EB Chadstone just got preorder stocks in. They said that EB automated message should come in like up to half a day so if you got preorder from there just go in and pick it up. I know I will. Been a pleasure guys and girls :)

Traded an Xbox One X for $249, if you have an account and have traded with them before you may get extra credit on trade-in, I barely buy anything from them but was still a L2 Member or something, got an extra 10% credit. They're offering $250 for an XB1X in trade. I looked on FB marketplace and eBay near me and that's what people were starting to list them at so to avoid haggling etc I traded mine.

Has anyone had anything other than a phone to call to say that it is ready for pickup? i.e. Something more 21st century like an email saying to come and get it or something on the click and collect order page. I feel for the people in the stores that must be making tens to hundreds of calls as well as serving customers.

Got call from Castle Hill this afternoon and just picked up, will set up tomorrow and give it a whirl over the weekend.

They signed me up for EB membership. 5 minutes later, I got an SMS for a gambling site. The SMS addressed my name. A bit of a coincidence as normal SMS spams don’t know my name, anyone else experienced similar or am I just being paranoid? 😉I just got mine, its a bit strange it says the made date was oct 2021
