      If the code is auto generated on the site then CR will honour it. See posts by TAon historical lenovo deals. This feels like a record beating price especially when it's eligible for CB I.e. Not an education store offer.

    I originally wanted the AMD version, but at this price I'll take 16GB RAM instead of 32GB - plus the Intel unit has a much, much faster SSD.

          Was your potential cash back calculation correct at $334.60? If so, it's a massive cash back and makes it such a great deal for a Legion 7. You can use it on upgrading the memory to 32GB like on the Ryzen model.

          My cash back from my Legion 5i purchase in October got approved.

      This 16" panel is better than 95% of laptop displays.

      It has G-sync, 500 nits brightness, displays 100% sRGB and can run at 165hz.

      It makes the panels on your average Dell or ASUS gaming laptop look like utter crap.

      From what I have read, the 12th gen Intel CPU's are far faster and cooler than their 11th gen equivalents.

      However the AMD 6xxx series have only marginal CPU speed increases.

      Both feature improved onboard graphics, but that doesn't matter much if you are buying a laptop with a 3070 in it…

      Very solid CPU and outstanding display.

      The GPU isn't so strong if you want to do a lot of gaming.

      I understand though that budget constraints mean compromises have to be made somewhere.

      The display is going to be A LOT better than most displays on similarly priced 15" laptops from other vendors….

      I bought this laptop about a month ago for 1720(including cashback). This would be historical low with cashback.
      I needed a laptop with big HDR screen(16") and good performance for development purposes and running VMs. This satisfies the purpose. Plus build quality is very good. Only shortcomings I can think of is no Card reader(Easily remedied by buying an external card reader).
      I'm not a gamer(not even a casual one) so cannot comment on the graphics card performance

      The ticket prices yes will come down for the now obsolete Intel 11th gen/AMD 5xxx series

      However whether or not cashrewards and promo codes will add up to as much savings at those times isn't so certain.

      With BACK2SCHOOL and 14% cashrewards this is a pretty sweet deal right now. Plus I like delivery in a few days rather than 2 months….

      The discount is so high because they already built these units and they have Windows 10 installed.
      Happy to do my own free upgrade to Windows 11 on receipt of the laptop to bank around $500 in savings….

          I wouldn't ponder too long - "a few left" normally means less than 20.

              The rewards will take a week or so after delivery to be credited.

              They can be used for future purchases from Lenovo.com.au (edu or normal stores).

                  @CodeXD: This. I bought on their ebay store over the weekend at higher price. They refunded me almost $400 difference.

                  Now if they could only match the warranty upgrade pricing to their online store when buying alongside a new laptop, rather than overcharging when you try to upgrade after receiving the laptop (when you have no bargaining power left). Price is pretty much double! I hate it when companies do that.

      It says "Up to 32GB DDR4-3200 offering" in the spec .pdf from Lenovo.
      Does that mean they only sell with up to 32GB?
      Or is there a hardware limit to only 32GB? I'm interested in potentially putting 64GB in.

          So

          Kraken pros:
          * cheaper
          * 2 year warranty vs 1 year on the Lenovo
          * 5W TGP more on the 3070
          * 94W battery
          * 240hz screen (potentially without G-Sync)

          Lenovo pros:
          * known brand, arguably better for resale
          * $61 Lenovo rewards
          * better screen (500 nit, WQXGA, G-Sync)
          * demonstrated best in class cooling
          * on site service included in the 1 year premium support vs assumably back to base for the Kraken

          The Kraken is excellent bang for buck, but if the screen really doesn't support G-Sync it seems a little pointless to do a 240hz panel.
          Bearing mind too the Kraken is a full HD panel vs WQXGA on the Lenovo. Which resolution you prefer is up to you. There is no doubt the cost of producing the WQXGA panel is considerably more than the full HD panel. If you mainly use an external monitor or TV, you probably don't care much about the panel on the laptop.

          There isn't a lot of formal review information around about the Kraken so it's hard to compare directly except for on raw config stats.

          I do know that the Legion 7 has received excellent reviews and is considered widely as one of the best laptops in 2021.

          For my needs I am happy with paying the extra $300 after cashback for the Legion

            @TheCandyMan2020: yep, just giving an alternative. I prefer smoother panels and FHD in this form factor, I wouldn't have bought a QHD panel even if it were cheaper.

            what's the benefit of G-Sync again? I haven't seen any tearing or anything like that. on an old habit I run games at exact divisors of the frequency (120, 80, 60, 48 for 240Hz) and 165 just confuses me as there's less useful framerates available

            also Intel (that's what the producer of X15 officially is) is a well known brand alright haha

            X15 is barebones, BPC are just supplying W10 license, SSD, and RAM

              @shabaka: Well at 1080P you should be able to achieve some pretty high frame rates, however I'd be surprised if you hit 240 FPS in AAA titles.

              If you don't, and your screen is set at 240hz with no Gsync, you may well experience screen tearing. Say in Apex Legends, turn quickly and see what happens. If your FPS is say 150 frames and your refresh rate is 240hz then tearing would be expected.

              If you set your refresh rate lower for AAA games, that means you are changing your refresh rate every time you game?

              It seems the X15 models sold by BPC, JW and others all have different panels, SSD and RAM. Unless they specifically tell you which ones they are using, it's quite the lottery.

                I just limit frame rate within the game or using GeForce Experience. for example I limit Mordhau to 80 fps, HL2 to 120 fps, Overwatch to 120 fps

                this means that screen has exactly 2 or 3 frames to spare between GPU spits out another frame.

                I had g-sync on my previous laptop (razer blade 17, with 300hz panel) and I notice no difference in smoothness moving to X15

    How does this laptop compare to Legion Slim 7 Gen 6 15" AMD with RTX3060? I already ordered the Slim one yesterday through Cashrewards for $2464. Wondering if I should cancel that and order this instead.

    I will be using it 50/50 for wfh and gaming.

      Well this has a 3070 and is cheaper.

      The AMD CPU (assumably 5800H) is better for battery life and heat, but it is slightly slower in most applications.

      I personally would cancel and order this instead.

      If you don't need the portability of Legion Slim 7, then yes, Lenovo Legion 7i is the better option.

      Slim 7 weights in at 1.9kg compared to 2.5kg on Legion 7i.

      Slim 7 will also have better battery but unlikely you'll be on battery wfh or gaming.

          I think it helps to work out a reasonable budget for new purchases.

          I think the 980 is fine. The issue is with my CPU which is bottleneck-ing my performance. Even for CSGO I had to set to low/very low settings.

          I don't think it'd be worth to upgrade motherboard/cpu as that's like $4-500. Might as well buy a new one.

    Damn :( would've gotten this if it was possible to swap the power brick out to the 230W power adapter. the 300W adapter is way too heavy. Heard that the Lighting for the Icue software drains the battery like crazy compared to the LL5P tho.

      There is an easy fix for the iCue battery drain problem - disable all Corsair Windows services. Also, if it helps, my understanding is that the Lenovo 230W "slim" charger is adequate for Legion 7i with the 3070 GPU (may not be for the 3080). Do some googling. If so, you could always by that one as a spare one.

    Anyone know what cooling is like in this laptop?
    I've found most med-high power laptops suffer thermal throttling so am wary (but tempted) of this deal.
    If it doesn't suffer thermal problems at 100% load, I'm in.
