doesn't change across batches, it's "palate fatigue" … the excitement seems to dwindle after a while …. revisit in a few weeks or months and it might be exciting again …… I sometimes go off things before I even finish the bottle, but enjoy when revisited later …. same with wine if you drink the same wine every night.
Too much of a good thing
I did wait a month though. And the bottle doesn't carry the same smell
try the diplomatico mantuano. much cheaper but still really nice but much more sweet compared to RE.
I feel the mantuano falls disappointly short of expectations set by the reserva and wouldn't recommend it for anything but a mixer.
Got this during lockdown as a little novelty - loved it and am now regularly sipping various rums. I don't know whether to recommend this or not.
I just tried this rum late last year and I rate it highly. It's smooth, sweet with almost no alcohol burn. If you want just the bottle, it's $70.32.
Also my absolute favorite rum, Ron Zacapa 23yo is on special for $79.92 (same discount code).

I know nothing about rums .Depends what you want to spend. The diplomatico reserva is great.
For a cheap one that's much better than what you pay for, Mount Gaye >>> all others
Edit: i just read the comment below.. Dodge the generic Appletons. They're no good.
Also, strongly recommend mixing with a slice of slightly squeezed lime. And i say coke only, but it's common that people mix with dry.
I must say the 23 disappointed me.. although i had the grand reserva first
Try Appleton Estate Signature or Mt Gay Eclipse with dry and lime
I'm currently on my second bottle. The first was amazing. The second only ok. I'm not accustomed to rum being different across batches. What is everyone else's experience like?
