Wtf these things are crazy. They used to go on sale for $990 now they just casually double in price. They must be raking in so much profit for selling the same thing.

The world really needs more competition in this space. Australia is too small of a market to even get a chunk of the selection available of chairs in USA.

I'm sitting on the Jap equivalent of this Okamura for less than $200 on Scumtree just after covid. Might be a (slightly) better option for some.

Was interested on them and wanted to see what is good is about them first hand in showrooms when lockdowns were over. When I noticed the price hike was like not even gonna bother.
I did however decided to go with a secretlab neuechair.

People in australia vastly underestimate how much dealing with australia costs especially expenses vs market size.

Your base costs are significantly higher with a much smaller market.

Not only is international shipping a lot more but physically getting last mile deliveries to homes costs exponentially more in australia than any other country especially since we have such low population density.

I just went on the hunt for a new chair and picked the Steelcase leap over the herman miller Aeron largely because of this price jump.

You can still get a leap delivered for about 1k the less than aeron.

I don't know how long that'll last for though.

      it wasn't always that price, it has increased on the US site. Back in October 2021 it was $1445 according to archive.org
      re amazon listing, what about for the fatties who need a size C? Or size A?
      Be interesting to see if the amazon prices start increasing.

Having had many chairs over a span of 20 years and have tolerated a few bad ones which really hurt my back and I kept hearing about this chair but the cost always put me off, I mean come on that's a stupid amount of money to just sit down. During covid I was working from home using my office chair from work and my back was really hurting for no other reason than the chair (maybe posture) so I bought myself an aeron and instantly had buyers remorse as it felt hard, my bum would get pins and needles after an hour and it was real heavy to move around. I spent the next week tweaking the chair and I found a sweet spot and I'm now I'm a convert, this is by far the most comfortable chair for sitting in for hours on end, no more backache the mesh helps keep me cool and the pins and needles have gone completely. I look forward to sitting in this chair and that's never happens before with my past chairs, comfort is subjective and we are all different but for me this has been money well spent.

  They're US$1320+tax in the US on backorder which is AUD$2,109 with 8% sales tax, so we're doing pretty well at AUD$2054 at Inner Space.
  
  Herman Miller themselves looks like they have stock but they sell it for US$1545+tax which would be AUD$2,469.
