Great little torch :)
Might find it cheaper on eBay but there are a lot of fakes around.

This is not a good deal. I picked up a torch from Tmart.com that is twice as bright and half that price…

    • Probably could @DX aswell but I'd assume that these torches are probably built a bit better, atleast that's what I've gathered from reviews I've read on them. My 8$ Cree from DX broke after a 1 m drop onto brick, wonder if this would hold up any better.

I was under the same impression until I handled both at the same time… This one is light-years ahead of the cheap DX ones :)
        Absolutely worth the the money.
Many countries' armed forces & Police use LedLenser torches…so I've read somewhere.

          where'd you read that?

I'd be surprised if any half competent LE/Mil agencies would issue non regulated LED torches for operational use…

      • Scoopon and quality aren't 2 words that go in the same sentence very often. My $10 Cree literally came with blinding warning on it because it's so bright (210 lumens)! I'm still amazed at it. And that's why I love Tmart

        • Probably the same reason I love DX.
Having said that…Scoopon does not manufacture these so you cant compare quality like that.
You can buy a car for $5000 & $50000 …both will go 100km/h in the freeway….you get the point :)

        • Yes, @hippocrit that's the one. It takes 1 AA and shines through my hand! The first time I used it I was looking for bones but it's a torch, not an x-ray… :(

        • It goes through the middle of the hand or the fingers?

Thats a bright torch if it goes through you hand.

        • @Macgyver It doesn't go through the thickest part of the hand, but it goes through all the fingers and the thinner parts of the hand (I've got thick sausage fingers too). It's bright enough that you can complete cup your hand over it and still light up the room enough to navigate. Not bad for 1 AA battery…

I have a P5, for such a small torch its pretty bright and is good quality. I've had a few ebay type torches in the past and are never as bright as advertised. A good torch.

I agree, I use a Led Lenser P7 and P5R at work (fire fighter) and I've also tried the cheap, nasty "200 lumen" torches, there is worlds of difference. Do a youtube search, they literally have to run over a Led Lenser 4 times with a forklift to finally kill one. My P5R gets a flogging at work, and hasn't missed a beat.
I use a P7 for my other job, and it's still as bright as when I first got it 4 years ago.

The P5 also comes with a sexy belt carry case.

      • Yep..there is a video of a 450 tonne dump truck driven over a P7 and it surviving….ill post the link when i get home.

This has the really good focus system for spot and flood
    very high quality as well

I will be benchmarking it against this more powerful torch
    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/51854
and i will post results here when i get this deal

    another good deal is
    http://www.yourhomedepot.com.au/products/led-lenser/l7-torch…

brighter but using 3 aaa not 1 aa like this one
    or

    http://www.yourhomedepot.com.au/products/led-lenser/l7y-torc…

  • L7 is a great torch, the P5 stands out though because of its lack of size/weight.

    • A bit off topic, but you should see the P5R, its the same size as the P5 and has 210 lumen! It's the best lumen : size torch I could find AND it's rechargable via power point or USB.

If anyone buys this deal, I am interested in buying the carry case that comes with it (only of course if the buyer doesn't need it!!!)

I bought x-large 35cm led torch off ebay for 7.50 delivered, 200lm and it's bright, but ultimately they are used to hit intruder in the head.

they are not the best quality, so i bought 2 just to make sure i can hit it twice at least.

  • I tried out an LED headlight last night that I got for free from some offer posted on this site- maybe just postage. It uses 2 AAAs. I was amazed how bright it is. It's better than all the torches I have paid lots more for.
