60% off Insync (Google Drive/Microsoft OneDrive/Dropbox Client) @ Insync HQ

240
BACKUPNOW60

I was able to apply the coupon for a new order so am assuming it works for them as well but only used it to actually purchase an upgrade for a free lifetime Prime account I got long ago from this post https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/283595.

Like the upgrade option I purchased, I noticed that some product options were cheaper to buy in AUD so do a quick compare of the USD/AUD cost before deciding on which currency to use.

All the Desktop type licenses are lifetime and the client is supported on Linux, Windows and Mac.

Upgrading a Prime account

This was all prompted by the below email from Insync so in case others are going thru the same process, have noted what I did further below:

Your backup trial is ending in 5 days and Insync will stop backing up your files and folders unless you purchase the backup upgrade for your plan.

As part of the upgrade, Prime accounts are valued at the same price as the Desktop Solo Sync (29.99 USD) so you can directly upgrade to that with no additional costs. I upgraded to the Desktop Developer Sync for $13.20 AUD by doing the following:

  1. Click the upgrade plan link in your dashboard that is associated with your Prime account.
  2. Ensure you select the Desktop Developer Sync as the upgrade option as there is also a backup and sync option.
  3. Add the voucher/coupon and change the price from USD to AUD. Noticed that some product options are cheaper to buy in AUD and this was one of them.

  • So unless you have an existing prime account this is unable to be used?

    • As I mentioned, I could apply it for a new order but didn't follow thru with the actual purchase as I needed to upgrade my existing account. Would be great if someone does try and use it to purchase for a new account and report back the outcome.

  • Thanks. I was looking at this the other day and totally forgot I had the free account from several years ago.

    • I think I might have as well, but I can't access the web dashboard.

      Under License It does say

You are on Developer Sync & Backup
      Validity Lifetime

      • You are already on one of the newer account types so must have upgraded your free account in the past. The legacy account types were Prime and Teams. The new account types are Solo, Personal, Developer and Company.

Seems like a pointless program that exists to solve a problem that isn't there.

With Insync, you can now sync, edit, backup and share files without opening a million browser tabs.

Literally every one of the services it supports already has a desktop client that will integrate directly into Windows Explorer.

OneDrive (which works for SharePoint too)

    Dropbox

    Google Drive

I think the main benefits are using a single client if you have accounts across the three providers and also cross platform support. Not sure how current it is but going by the feature comparison they have provided (https://www.insynchq.com/#features), they look to be adding some value for users when compared to the native clients.

For linux, this product is invaluable, as at least for Google Drive - there is no free native linux client available.

      • +3

Yes very good point. Don't see how Google still fail to provide the client for Linux. It's a absolutely absurd.

          It's a absolutely absurd.

          Mamma mia!

      • And not only that, but the free Linux alternatives all break in a few years because Google keeps changing the API

    • It was the ease of using multiple accounts + ease of using it for online backup rather than sync that I wanted. Can do it other ways sure but at the 60% off + credit for the free license it's been a small cost for a 1 stop solution.

  • I can highly recommend this product - I have been using it for years.
It is irreplaceable on Ubuntu where the vendor-specific apps are nonexistent or poorly-developed or poorly-supported. It also allows synching arbitrary parts of a local folder tree with different cloud accounts, which is useful if you use the same PC/laptop for personal, work and family purposes.

  • Can't get Backup to OneDrive to work, sync to OneDrive is fine and Backup to Google Drive works fine. Gives errors about NoneType not having Attribute Node ID… reported it.

Anybody got backup going with Onedrive error free?

    • OK error is Backup from an external USB drive to Onedrive fails for me, works to Google Drive… Backup from an interal drive is fine.

Fault logged so perhaps they will fix one day.

  • What steps to create new ? It says coupon expired.

  • Coupon seems to have expired.

Am curious OP; why not the backup and sync plan, instead opting for only the sync function? Also, would the company backup and sync plan be better since it allows for transfer of license?

*On their sales page, the company sync/ back plan states the inclusion of shared drives and sharepoint. On their checkout page if that plan is selected, it excludes them. Wonder if its a typo or am I misreading it.

    Still working.
