    • They do gigabit for $140

  • I'd do it for $110. That extra dollar lost me though

  • Still can’t beat the more NBN deal 250 for $ 83.30

    • Where ?

      • +1

        More nbn for commbank customers

      • I believe they're talking about a targeted deal to certain CBA customers to sign up to More Broadband (same guys as Tangerine Telecom). More info here

  • I play games at South_East Asia server, when I use TPG/Vodafone nbn the ping is usually 160ms plus, while when I use Telstra nbn the ping is around 110ms. Could anyone please advise what will the be ping if I switch to FBB? I am located at Brisbane.

  • Oh I can dream. I top out at 30/12 :( can’t wait for FTTP. If it cost half of the 14k I’ve been quoted, I’d probably do it.

  • Any deals for 1000/50?

    • +1

They said a gigabit deal may be coming soon 2022

  • -1

Fairly good price compared to others. Not as good as what I get but close ;)

  • -6

this is a bad deal, i currently pay 119 for 1000 down from superloop. they charge 99 for 250 down… with no setup fee.

    Mod: Referral code removed.

    • +4

Superloop charge $119.95 per month for 250/25 (after 6 months of $99.95) and no static ip. If you prefer that offer go ahead, but doesn't feel like a sound neg.

Also couldn't see if they offer 1000 plan anymore? Superloop only offered up to 500/50

      • It 139 for the 1000/50

      • Who would you recommend to switch out after 6 months Superloop

  • +2

what's with the "$35 Setup Fee" bullshit. I thought we are passed ADSL.

    • +2

It is a fee they are just passing on. AAPT/TPG IP link usually only sold to businesses. It is a trade off, pay the fee to be on that network or don't and go with someone else.

    • It’s like TPG ADSL heydays setup fee one that you have to fight for to get refunded when terminate, but this one is non refundable

  • Kogan Internet uses Vodafone for FTTP and I've been on the 1000/50 plan for $104 a month. Unhelpful comment but tbh i wouldn't pay $111 a month for this.

The key isn't forever. It's churn churn churn. With FTTP you have no excuse.

    • +1

I must admit I get sick of churning and chasing the cheapest price every 6 months.

      • +1

It's a bit addictive for me. I don't need the savings. But it's a game.

    • Kogan has 1000 Mbps plan?

      • Yep, called the Diamong. It's all through vodafone.

  • If I churn at night time on a public holiday, how long do I have to wait?

    • Just activate on another port

      • Does FTTC have multiple ports?

        • Nope only one.

        • +1

Also FTTC cannot get this deal to my knowledge due to speed limitations

    • +1

They will likely do it the next business day as they have to build your connection. Being a routed static IP. They will need to email you that IP addresses to insert into your router.

  • How about mate, I think they have it for $99. Though am not sure about their service and other stuff but found it in google search. Anyone has any idea?

  • +1

I pay 42.5 $/month for sorta similar download speeds, and better upload speeds, on Vodafone 5G

    • +2

      That is great well done

  • Still paying $89 for mate nbn 250/25. 6 month period was over 5 months ago

  • I was with FBB for approx. 6 months. Didn't have any issues until towards the end where I was getting some packetloss and congestion during peak periods. I did flag it with them and it was being investigated but Telstra had an offer of $1 for the first month and a $100 gift card of your choice for black Friday which I had to jump on. I got the modem fee waived if I cancel as well, the 100Mbps plan is $110 per month but it works out I pay the same or less over the space of 6 months and scored myself a free modem. Stable ping and no issues whatsoever so far.

One thing to keep in mind with FBB though is they need 2 weeks notice before they cancel your service. Many ISP's state this but they cancel it immediately anyway, whereas FBB kept charging me.

  • +1

I'm another happy FBB customer, I moved over from ABB when they jacked their prices up. The slowest speed test I've ever got was 88 but typically I see 93 or 94.

But being on 100/40 makes it feel like 250/25 would be a downgrade. Is there any technical reason why we can't have faster uploads once we're off FTTP?

    • Not sure what you mean by your question. Do you mean ON FTTP?

      • Yes that's what I meant.

        • If I'm not wrong it's because the backend technology that is impletented for the NBN can't handle it for everyone (yes even on FTTP). Here's some info on GPON

There are synchronous plans avaiable if you can get and choose Enterprise Ethernet, but I doubt that they will be cheap if you just want to use it for a home connection.

          • @Cousin IT: Thanks, that was a helpful link. Not sure what the practical limit would be though, eg could NBNCO offer 1000/100 plans for a reasonable price of they wanted to?

  • Is there a way to know if you have FTTP or HTC? I moved in my apartment for a few years now and the apartment came with an NBN built in our closet. I have been using the 100/40 plan for years now and I'm generally happy. But I would like to upgrade to 250, 500 or 1000 sometime in the future. How do I know if my apartment's NBN is compatible for the higher speeds?

    • +1

Easiest and best way is to check your address on the NBN website.

If you're in an apartment, especially a newer one, you're likely on FTTB. You might even find that you're not even connected to the NBN, but to one of a few particular Fibre networks that service apartment buildings like TPG's FTTB, Opticomm, etc.

Does the box on the closet have the NBN logo on it?

      • Thanks for the link. You're spot on, apparently I'm on FTTB. I'm with Exetel right now and I'm generally happy with the speeds but was looking to upgrade to something a bit faster. Sucks that I'm not eligible for this deal.

  • Does their HFC have vlan tagging? Dealbreaker as I don't want an extra router behind my existing mesh.

    • They used to, but VLAN's no longer required.
