Phillips (the Dutch multinational) sold their TV business to a Chinese company, didn't they?

    • +1

      And?

        • pretty sure LG makes their OLED panels in China, so never buy SONY or LG OLED then.

If you are arguing that the company lacks some experience maybe, but pointing the owners registration location is not convincing at all.

          • +1

@Gizardry: I'm not arguing anything. It was a question and I used the origin of the original owners of the TV brand as well.
Are YOU implying/ conceding that Chinese companies have 'less experience'?
I of course don't think that at all. TCL and Hisense make great TVs. However, the new owners of some old brands don't.

              @Amaris: I am mainly replying askme69's comment

'It's CHINESE what else needs to be said.'

From his track record, it is safe to assume what he meant.

        And?

the company making these models doesn’t have the balls to sell under own name.

Philips are junk and gone downhill esp with TV's. OLED = LG and no other secondary company that uses their panel.

    • +5

LG sell their panels to a number of other manufacturers and I believe including whoever owns the license to Philips nowadays. It doesn't mean it is anywhere near the same quality with image processing but LG panels are used in many others including Sony and Panasonic before they exited the market.

      • -4

Regardless. They can sell gold to Philips and they are still shit. Edit. I meant above the I would chose LG and no other considering that they use their panel. Cheers

Panasonic and Sony make better OLED TVs than LG.

LG has a few gaming specific features that make them very popular here and Panasonic have sadly left the Australian market but it doesn’t discount the fact that they’re by no means the best at using their own panels.

          • +1

@tp0: They all use LG OLED panels. Their electronics and mother/daughter boards & ergonomics are different.

          • -3

@tp0: Sony needs LG as a panel supplier. Sad to see a leader becoming a trailer.

  • Might be a good gaming monitor

  • Damn, bought this from the amazon deal during boxing day. It was 1599, but didn't include the sound bar. Doesn't seem like the soundbar is any good but hey, not a bad deal.

  • Seems like a decent unit if HFR content isn't critical for you, and you are watching native UHD content. Apparently non-native content all has edge enhancement applied to it without a way to switch it off.

WhatHiFI mentions motion processing issues, but that seems to be related to having motion interpolation on, and not sure why anyone would use that, only makes things look less accurate.

  • To clarify, it DOES support HDMI 2.1 since the 2.1 specification supersedes the 2.0 spec and any 2.1 only features are optional, therefore, all HDMI2.0 devices are now 2.1.

  • Picked one up to partner my LG OLED (we've got two living spaces and this one will just be for TV). Very impressed so far, great price and the soundbar inclusion I think has made it a great deal
