Sony MDR-NC300D Noise Cancelling In-Ear Headphones - (RRP $499) Now $199

100

Was in Harvey Norman Broadway (Glebe) and could believe this deal. These headphones retail for $499 and cheapest I found were $275 plus delivery. When I saw these for $199, I thought what a catch.

There were at least 20 of these hanging in the premiumn headphone area (near the whitegoods).

They are supposed to be one of the best NC in ear phones that exist, constant high scoring reviews.
So much so, that Sony are discontinuing them as they cost more to make than what they can charge (don't know how true that is?).

See below for more info, comments welcome.

The MDR-NC300D in-ear headphones from Sony provide high-quality audio and high levels of ambient noise reduction in a compact and lightweight design. The headphones feature 16mm drivers to provide rich, detailed audio with an ultra-wide frequency response. The headphones offer Normal, Movie, and Bass listening modes to perfectly suit your listening situation.

In order to find a snug and comfortable fit, 7 different sizes of eartips are provided. Finding a proper fit improves sound quality and bass response, and also naturally blocks out unwanted environmental noise. To further reduce ambient noise, the headphones have active circuitry with artificial intelligence that automatically selects the ideal noise canceling mode based on your environment. Thanks to this advanced technology, the headphones can reduce ambient noise by up to 98.4%.

The headphones also feature a volume control and a monitor switch in the main control unit. The monitor switch lets you hear your surroundings without removing the headphones for having quick conversations or listening to announcements. The circuitry operates for up to 15 hours on a single AA battery. The cable has a standard 3.5mm stereo mini plug for wide compatibility with MP3 players, CD players, and more. An extension cable and dual-prong airplane adapter are included for extra slack and connecting to in-flight entertainment systems.

A convenient carrying case is also included.

    Honestly,
Are there really people here who buy a 500$ headphone that too in-ear headphone ?

I wouldn't pay much attention to the Australian RRP, which is inflated far beyond what they're actually worth.

Just to put this price into context, these headphones have been sold by Amazon.com for US$180.00 or less since the middle of 2010, so $199 is only "cheap" for Australia but still overpriced compared to the rest of the world: http://camelcamelcamel.com/Sony-MDR-NC300D-Headphones/produc…

        Strongly agree with u~

    • I would, $500 in-ear headphones, would be insanely good.

  • I can't stand in-ear headphones….just my personal preference.

FYI - for the noobs, You can only buy through Amazon if you have a US shipping address (or mail forwarding service), found it on ebay as well for $40 shipping to Au (which was still more expensive item is AU $173 + AU $38 shipping) ?
