    Someone started drinking early :)

I've got one of these tyre inflators. Can highly recommend.

  • Thanks OP I'll give it a go

Lol.. I had no idea what happened.. I created a new post and somehow it linked to my last post.
Definitely finished the bourbon a long time ago.. 😂

    this or the xiaomi one?

    • I pick the 70mai for myself. It's smaller.

Is this any good for SUP's?

    • Was wondering the same. I have an ozito 12v pump but it only pumps at 16l/min so takes over 20mins to inflate my SUP :(

    • +1

Nup. You want a high volume low pressure pump ($5 air matress pump at kmart). It will give the sup its shape. Use a hand pump to do the rest. Saves you 100 odd compressions.

    • What is SUP? Looks Like I can add this to my Aussie vocabulary.

      • Stand Up Paddleboard

        • +4

I was sure this was a set up for "Nothing much, what is SUP with you?"

  • Stupid question - is this portable/battery operated? Or it can only run off 12 volt car battery?

It says it's "corded electric", but in one of the images it looks like a portable USB battery source for recharging other devices?

    • +1

      Looks like 12v

Voltage ‎12 Volts - nothing about battary or 220v

    • +2

It plugs into 12V cigarette socket, as shown in the 2nd picture.

It's only a power source when plugged into the socket, no build in batteries.

    • +2

      From a review on Amazon:
"Note: This runs off a cigarette lighter connection, so if you want to use it like I do (at home in the garage) you will need a 240V to DC 12V adaptor. There's tons out there to choose from…"

0 to 30 PSI in 3 minutes is a big claim for such a small unit. The pump would have to work super hard and become super hot, it won't last long. But even if it works only one time to get you out of trouble, it's worth it.

    • More like when the wheel is off load.

  • Anyone used these with a 4wd? Need an air compressor for my ford everest for after the odd beach driving and was going to go down the traditional ARB etc route but this looks really convenient. I’m sure it’s not as fast as others but it’s really compact and tidy. Could store that easily and lower weight is better.

    • +1

I have one and never use it. I either use a twin pump proper 12v or just run an air line out from my compressor. It's a Mickey mouse unit that really is for emergencies. Noisy, loud, hot and slow.

      • Ah ok fair enough. Guess I go back to looking at the ARB or TJM ones. They’re just so large and heavy is the only problem. Unfortunately no good mounting places in an everest for them.

        • +1

They are large and heavy because that's what it takes to pump up 4 large tyres, continuously and reliably.

I doubt this one can run non-stop to pump up 4 large tyres from 20 to 40 PSI, it may overheat at some point and you will have to wait for it to cool down, if it is still working.

Something like this would work nicely: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/664015

    check it out

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5PChgB1rNcs

runs off 12 volts….. pretty pointless otherwise in my opinion.

    • I use this kind of air pump with the gooloo jump starter.

  • Why would I get this over something like this? https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-pxc-18v-240v-hybrid-inflat… (genuine question, not having a go at the product)

I have the ozito batteries already and thought this would be good to have around for the car, bike, and pushbikes.

    • +1

if you're comparing to the ozito i'd get the ozito

  • Can someone recommend a long-lasting unit available on ebay or amazon for the same or less money than this tiny Michelin-branded unit? Or at least tell me what to look for.

I know these things get hot and need adequate heatsinking, but aside from searching for 12V AIR COMPRESSOR online, I don't exactly know what I should be looking for. I do know I want something that lasts. Thanks for any help.

    • I don't think there really is any reliable/quality inflator in this size/price range. They're all meant to be infrequent use emergency units. Inside they have these tiny motors that are driven hard and they just don't survive.

I got this years ago, with a 5 year warranty and it's more "heavy duty" so I know it's a bit over-engineered. You want something big and heavy that is working within its range, rather than a small light one thats overworked to get the same result. Youl'l note the duty cycle of this is 45 minutes on, 15minutes off. a lot of the cheaper ones are 10-15 minute on only. they can't survive.
In-store warranty will be a plus too.

  • I have been using one of these for the last six years pumping tyres of my three cars. It has been reliable and working as expected.

Thanks for all the feedback folks.. And apologies for the snafu at the start of my posts.. Lol.. Linking to Jack.. Subliminal advertising by the phone..

Definitely different strokes for different folks. I'll be using it infrequently just to check and top up the car tyres at home. It should be able to manage the task. Though might get a bit more of a workout during the weekend when friends are visiting.

Hopefully Amazon restocks it soon for anyone who missed out.

  • +1

Err am I missing something? It's literally cheaper on Ebay and often on 20% sales to go sub $60. Not really price I'd rush to buy this but it seems OzB in desperation bought a dud.

    • Oh what.. Lol.. Damn.. I just did a quick search on ozb and didn't see anything comparable.

Ah well.. Lesson learnt.. Thanks for the message.
