  What makes an nvme PS5 compatible? I've seen cheaper drives with heatsink sand comparable read/write speeds and they don't require a sale to get too this price level. Thanks

    It needs to have a minimum read speed of 5.5gbps to match the ps5 internal SSD. Only pcie gen 4 ssds can go that high. So Sony makes this a requirement. Most of the ssds you see on ozb are gen 3 which max out at 3-4gbps.

    This SSD is 7gbps btw.

    PCIe Gen4 of over 5000 MB/s. You can add your own cheap ebay heatsink if you know that it fits.

  My SSD arrived today and its dead. Slotted it into my Playstation 5, no dice, it wouldnt recognize it. So I throught oh it might be too loose, so I made sure i slotted it and pushed it all the way in, still without luck. So then I decided to try test it in my computer to see if it would recognize the device for me to format it, nothing. I went to my local computer shop here in the city, they ran a quick scan, and they said its dead. I just unpackaged it today and it wouldnt even work. I might've just gotten unlucky and gotten one of the faulty ones but yeah. Unlucky. Im going to ask seller to get a replacement or refund

    Mine came today and works alright, except the ps5 says the read speed is 6236 not 7000. Apparently it's a common issue lots of people are having with other SSD brands too. Seems like a sony issue.

    Also must be a downer nunu, yes definately a dud set, it happens. Definately get a replacement/refund and make the seller pay return shipping.
