    Thanks. Got a couple 32gb.

8.45 MB/sec write speed, according to userbenchmark.com. Pretty slow.

    • +3

I've got 8 of these in 16Gb from years ago, they write at 20mb/sec and reads are closer to 120mb/sec. It pains me to use them but they've done their job and not one has failed. Back then they were something like $21 reduced to $11 from Officeworks.

I'd much rather go an M.2 ssd in a usb housing these days for file sharing, but the amount of times I've made bootable installer for Linux/Rasp.Pi/Windows/Macrium Rescue disc/Android usb-otg to flash phones with, has been their saving grace over the years.

Still a time and a place for these…

      • how much does it cost to get m.2 SSD in USB housing?

        • +2

$24 to $26 for the housing from banggood. I've not tried it but I'm going to, it's the perfect use of 128Gb drives.

128GB version seems like a decent deal when looking at 3xCamel?

Anyway, picked up some 32GB ones - cheers OP :)

    • +1

It's already been noted in the description

      • +1

Ah sorry, my page hadn't refreshed whilst I was typing the comment

        • No worries. Thanks anyways for the info.

If you already have USB 3.0 adapter for sata. Buy some cheap 128gb SSD for under $20 will be a lot better. Started do think now and moving files is worth the time.

    • +1

Doesn't sound overly portable and protective. It's also more expensive than what a 128GB USB would cost.

  • +3

Ordered 128gb one. 5$ cashback on 15$ spend for ozbargainers on shopback. Turns out to be 10.99 after cashback.

[5$ cashback on 15$ spend on shopback] (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/674004)

    • You won’t get cashback on this category therefore the bonus $5 I don’t believe will apply.

      • +1

Not true, if you read the other thread even 0% categories on Amazon still apply

        • Ah thanks, that’s good to know!

  • "Operating temperature 0 degree to 45 degree in Celsius"…wouldn't be much use in Perth at the moment!

  • I don’t need it. I don’t need it.

few seconds later: I neeeeedddd it

** adds to pile of unopened flash drives and memory cards **

        • the beauty of having myriad usb drive clutter is that when you finally do check out one to see what you have on it .. it's often a nice surprise time-capsule of memories from 6 years back

  • How reliable are these for photo back ups?

    • These should only be trusted as transport only, but I get it you can do what you like them, they should be fine.

  • +1

Seems the 32gb is also OOS from Amazon AU.

    • Yep 32GB is OOS - I got some 128GB ones instead. Thanks OP!

  • +1

    128GB is back up to $20.99 😒

  • slow write speed like 30MB/s reads fine.
so really for somebody occasionally use USB drive.
