Should be fine, range won’t be as good as claimed in many situations. Would suggest something more powerful for 4x4ing or road trips though as these will be lacking range when the group inevitably gets separated by more distance than expected.
I just bought the 3 pack. Uniden claims 3km line of sight though this would be under perfect conditions. Great radio so far.
Have a set of these but also the more powerful 5w uhf from GME. In city/country driving these little unidens may give 300-500m at best (on a freeway maybe 1km) however the 5w handhelds will give you 2km minimum, but up to 10km on open road.
I got 5w uhf from TRX, can I mix with this (Uniden UH45-4 (4-Pack) UHF CB Handheld Radio)
Can communicate this one with 5w uhf rom TRX?
Yes, just stay on the same channel
Yes. But if it is beyond uniden range, saying 500m as it is .5w, and within Trx range, uniden will receive trx signal but not be able to respond.
Example: I have uniden 4pack and often receive dirty talks from nearby construction sites.
ok here's my beef with this
this UH45 does not come with any batteries
you need 3 per unit so you need a dozen for this pack… that's a significant cost
the one up from this, the UH610 comes with batteries but its only a 2 pack
https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/uniden-uh610-1-watt-uhf-h…
but it comes with 1 watt
further the UH615 is 1.5watt and comes with the same package
https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/uniden-uh615-1-5-watt-uhf…
so if you need only two units, choose the set not aimed at kids?
i think you're better off with more power in most circumstances
also the 600 series units comes with a cradle fwiw
Adding 12x AAA Eneloops really reduces the value of this kit.
Still, kids are enjoying this today
My kids got a set of these for Christmas, been running around all morning happily playing with them. Seem to work well.
any Waterproof?
Dis good for camping?
