  technically a 6900xt is worth $1500~ in AUD but for some bizarre reason mining = price of a GRAPHICS processing unit.

      In a world where the 6900 XT hash the same hash rate as the 6800 or 6800 XT, also known as this one.

      If it's rubbish at mining crypto, retailers need to price it appropriately. It can't have the same markup as good mining cards. No one with more than half a brain is buying this for $2.1k.

        There is still demand, there is a world wide chip shortage in nearly every sector. No GPU has been RRP for nearly two years likely will continue for another year or two. It sucks but unfortunately the way things are.

          @imsuperimposed: There is no chip shortage. Discrete GPU production is up 50%+ over the past two years, and GPU production has doubled. CPUs are the cheapest and most available they've ever been. What's driving GPU pricing is crypto mining, there are warehouses that are literally filled with thousands of cards mining Ethereum 24/7.

          Some car manufactures cancelled orders for 10 cent chips expecting sales to drop due to Covid, and when they increased, they couldn't get more. That wasn't a shortage, that was terrible business practice. Others that maintained orders, such as Toyota, were fine.

  The 6900XT is in a weird place price wise because it mines as well as a 3060ti buts games very similar to a 3090.
