[PC, Epic] Free - Second Extinction @ Epic Games

3250

Today's freebie, I almost bought this a few weeks ago…

Looks good, first person co-op with Dinosaurs and a Horde mode. One of the better games on face-value so far.

    • Not sure why you're getting downvoted, considering Fooah got triggered when DB got the Ethan Carter post before him.

"I just found it funny DB called out TA for posting the deal early…." 🀣

Cant comment on why people are downvoting, but it was midnight when I hit submit. This might be testing my Ozbargain rules knowledge (That MiscOzb seems to be all across)… But if it's an issue with the rules shouldn't he report the post and not neg vote?

As for my comment, don't Ozbargain and drink… Definitely not a high point for mine haha

        • Would have been 11:59pm, which is obvious if you compare how long ago this was posted to the current time on a phone/computer (refresh this deal first then check the current time).

@hamza23 Why make this comment if you or any other mod aren't going to be enforcing it? Was clearly posted the day before the deal is due to start.

          • +3

@MiscOzB: Not sure what to tell you other than I waited for my PC to hit midnight before hitting submit. I apologise for the inconvenience this has caused you.

              • +2

@MiscOzB: If you find this to be such a pressing issue then I suggest you take some time off of the internet for a while until you're able to collect yourself.

    • Unofficially, our deal notification said it was posted 12:00:02.

@neil: So why is it showing as a front page deal for yesterday?

            • +6

              @MiscOzB: Stop your whinging.

            • +6

@MiscOzB: You are really invested in this Misc. What a relief it was 2 seconds after midnight for you :)

            • @MiscOzB: On grid view old it shows as today (22/12) but on list view old it shows yesterday (21/12). Have confirmed with Scotty that there is a bug with list view old that needs at least 1 second difference to be put into "today". This has been patched.

          • +3

@neil: Was fun while it lasted! 🀣

Top effort on timing Fooah πŸ‘
God awful game, but free is free.

      Who cares? Free games wooo

    • +1

      Relax mate. Who cares.

  • +13

dying to be first, weren't ya

    A$35.95?

    • +5

      Free at 3 (AM)

        • +10

Since we are asking questions here, why not read the "LATER TODAY" tag?

          Why not post deal early?

          • -4

@Jimpower: because it clog up the deal page with deals that can NOT be executed.

            • +2

@canberrascooter: it's very common to have deals posted for later in the day though? Eg cashback offers

                • +11

                  @canberrascooter: why?

knowing about upcoming deals can save you wasting money now

  • +20

People really getting too upset with "early posts". Relax people, it isn't that deep.

  • Anyone else having trouble "purchasing" this?

    • +3

Standard for the first half an hour when new games drop as everyone rushes and thinks it'll sell out. Just try again later.

Don't kill anything, don't use any disguised excuses to kill others

    • +1

You know it's just dots on a screen, right?

      • +1

Did a philosophy class about video games vs reality this year. I'm less sure about that very statement now. (profanity) you philosophy!

      • +2

and you're just dots on a screen as far as i can tell ;)

        • +1

At least these dots aren't trying to gatekeep video games like a vegan, which it appears the OP is. :D

          • +3

@Fybre: i think you need some more buzzwords in there, what are vegans "gatekeeping", eating?

            • @[Deactivated]: Good lord, chill, it's too early for a hernia.

"Don't kill anything, blah blah" This user has an agenda against video game violence from their previous comments. Kind of like a vegan continually trying to tell everyone not to eat meat.

      • +1

I guess real life is just a simulation? I can respawn? Can I enter the Matrix?

    • With no hidden intentions, I cannot see why that is a thing.

Kids play Cops and Robbers with finger guns and sword fights with sticks, and playing video games is a step on from that. Me killing fictional Kolbolds in a Dungeon is a fantasy, one where I can play out something I know isn't real, but is fun.

I've not come close to killing anyone in my life despite playing video games for 35 years and being in fist fights when I was younger, I won a couple (lost more) and having the power when their on the ground and being angered with them. Heck I feel guilty when I go fishing and cut off a fish's head.

Life itself is extremely violent, all life requires certain resources to consume to live, we have evolved as a species to be very effective at taking resources from the earth and other life so we may live and procreate. Right now we're covered in micro organisms chewing and digesting us to get their resources, and I'm off to lunch to pay for meat and vegetables, violently acquired, so I can get my resources to carry on living.

Let's take a moment to thank all the Fortnite kids for giving Epic their parent's credit card details that pay for us to get all these free games.

P.S. It looks like one of the leaked lists was correct. The next games are:
    -Mutant Year Zero,
    -Vampyr,
    -Pathfinder: Kingmaker, and
    -Prey.
So maybe hold off buying any of those if you were thinking about it.

    • +2

Thanks for the heads up! Honestly I think a lot of people are thinking twice before buying older titles on the Epic Store lately, just in case they later release it free.

      • +3

For sure. If you were on a shoestring budget there is no reason you couldn't play only free PC games these days. Best time to be a PC gamer.

    • +1

Damn they're all good games - shame I own them already though.

    • I think even Humankind was on the leaked list.

  • +7

so what's so good about being the person posting up the deal? why do you want to compete on being first?

    • +3

      Free internet good boy points

      • +1

        Not quite…..
Plenty of incentive for highest updoot posts..the reason it gets juicy.

        • +3

          Such as?

          • @Jamiea: I'm at work bud, just gave a friendly nudge in the right direction.
            Enjoy πŸ‘

          • +1

@Jamiea: Monthly prizes. Vouchers, etc. These deals are easy grinding.

            • @nomoneynoproblems: Didn't even know that was a thing, makes sense why certain people do the same deals over and over now.

  • -7

Excellent post, wish there were more people like you who would consistently do this!

  • +6

Noice! Another one to go on the ever increasing list of games in my library I'll probably never play.

    • +2

Same, I've been collecting the weekly game since the Xmas sale was posted here a couple years ago and all I've played is about 30 mins of GTA V in which I just went around shooting and running over pedestrians till I got bored.

      • I don’t even think I lasted 30 minutes with Second Extinction.

  • +1

can't wait for the next freebie Fooah posts ;)

    • Not sure if it was worth the drama of upsetting a few individuals.

  • This a a good game! Will be interesting what it's like when it's released. Fun coop.

    Cheers!
