  • Playing it on the PS5 - Tried and true formula but the writing is absolutely great and makes up for it.

By platform you are obviously only narrowly speaking about PC distribution? It is heaps cheaper on XBOX from Big W.

I wrote this on the BIG W sale post but I'll repost:

This is a great game. Just finished it on the PS5 yesterday. It's on the short-medium side regarding playtime, longer if you want to take your time and find all the skins and collectibles.

Think Guardians of the Galaxy meets Mass Effect. The premise is basically the same: you're a human working with and directing your alien teammates in a squad to beat some universal threat. Only difference being that the Guardians are just a ragtag dysfunctional group of renegades who need to learn to work together first.

    Action: 8/10
You're basically the weakest member of the team. The fun is in using your teammates' abilities and combo-ing them for massive damage. The way the game continually reveals new abilities to you up until the final arc of the game is really nice - keeps the combat interesting. Had so much fun learning new combos up until the very end.

    Story: 9/10
Hey, this won Game Awards for best narrative. I really liked how the story went back and forth and used all its characters in a meaningful way that contributed to the story. My only gripe is some of the vague technology/magic they use - I wish they could have fleshed it out or explained it better. Can't say much more about that without spoiling.

    Characters: 9/10
I bloody loved the characters. They aren't as charismatic as their MCU counterparts - but I feel like in many ways they're more relatable because you have a lot more time with them. Fair warning, there is a LOT of dialogue. Even on moments where I was on the Milano AFK on my phone checking something else, they were talking about topics relevant to the mission and what not. I personally loved what they did to Drax - he's so much more interesting and well-thought out over Dave Bautista's interpretation.

Yeah bloody good game and for this price you should get it.

That's a big plus for me, there are too many good games around so not having to sink 100 hours is a positive.

      • Same, 15-20 hours is the sweet spot for me these days. I don't have the patience anymore for 80 hour JRPG's, as much as I love the genre.

  • Didn’t know this game existed.

    Suitable for a 6yo and 9yo?

It's rated M in Aus for "Mature themes and violence" so up to you, and there are difficulty options which might suit younger kids.

    • It's Rated M I believe, so probably not?

        Thanks.

I let them play Spiderman, so it could be similar. I'll check it out.

  • yeah I bought the PC version which is far better graphics for 60 bucks was the deluxe verison on steam too, but never play this game with a mouse and keyboard there are parts in it where you need analog sticks which really annoys me but the game reminds of the avengers. Great sound track too.

  • Brilliant title. Great narrative and hilarious throughout. Well worth it (and the visuals are amazing)
