Sounds good, but …."Unfortunately, 5G Home Internet isn’t available in your area. You may be able to get a 4G Home Internet Plan." :(

    • bad luck

    • Does anyone know the reason or qualification for this? Mobile 5G is great here. The coverage map shows complete coverage. I could probably have a conversation with the tower raiding my voice a bit (admittedly it would be pretty one sided).

Meanwhile fttn has been delivering under 16 mbps not sure if peak or possibly heavy rain messing with copper. Love to know vodas official position on eligible locations.

      • Telstra 5G Home Internet may not yet be in your area.
You may be in a 5G coverage area, but your address may not be getting the minimum download speed of 50Mbps required for 5G Home Internet to work.
Maybe the same reason like Telstra.

Last time on the Black Friday sale I got told by a store employee that there is no home wireless broadband 5G in Victoria. Does anyone in Melbourne have this service?
I should him coverage map and he said it for mobile phone plans only.

    • Maybe only available at ACT and NSW.

    • +1

I got it as part of trial month. Speeds aren't bad, about 200Mbps. I live in one of the Wyndham suburbs, probably limited areas within Victoria.

  • I am only seeing 2 offers of the three. No half price deal listed for me.

    • +2

      Vodafone store only it says

      • +1

Accidentally voted…And it can't be changed..

        • I forgot to vote til this comment so the math checks out again.

  • +1

I'm on it right now, Melbourne south-west suburb.
    https://www.speedtest.net/result/12481134424.png
Ping is a bit far from desired in my area; download speed varies from 150 to 350.

    • +1

Mine's kinda similar in metro ADL, honestly speaking IMO it's just 4G internet that is branded to 5G to increase price tag

around 100-300 Mbps Down (usually around 200Mbps down) and 30- 50 Mbps Up (usually 36Mbps Up)

  • +3

    Give us a good 4G deal :(

    • same discount as well, however if cancel before 24 months, you need to pay off your modem. price should be $25/$30 though, still cheaper than NBN.

      • +1

pretty sure the 4G deals are capped @ something like 20 Mbps

    • I called up vodaphone and they offered the same 1/2 price deal for their 4g plan

I’m currently signed up for $30 per month for 12 months, $60 after that. No contract. Unlimited data on 4g network capped at 20mbps. Comes with modem that’s free, but need to pay prorata remainder of $7/month if you cancel before 24 months is out.

This deal has been done before.

Please read comments, as your questions could be answered…

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/667956

  • how much data?

    • Unlimited but the speed is capped at 20mbps.

      • ???

        speed is capped at 20mbps.

on 4G plan only, the deal page is on 5G home internet BTW

  • Not even available in Melbourne CBD, what a joke.

  • Given Vodafone, not surprised to get this:
"Unfortunately, 5G Home Internet isn’t available in your area.

You may be able to get a 4G Home Internet Plan."

    • You need to be 250meters from a 5g tower

  • -1

    Another Vodafail. Nobody seems eligible.

    • I'm using Vodafone's 5g (getting 250MBps) on my phone, and it tells me I'm not eligible. So, it could be in your area.

    • -1

But but they're the #1 gLoBaL 5g NeTwoRk according to the incessant propaganda blasted during the cricket.

  • -1

Last deal I wasn't eligible bit it appears I am eligible now. Suspicious.

    • Maybe they're upgrading towers and you're now eligible?

I would say suspicious if the deal was different, like you would pay more, but it's the same price as the Black Friday deal.

  • +1

my speeds dropped after the 1st month…. suspicious??

  • Already using Felix 20mbps, via Vodafone Network for $35. Vodafone 5G would have been better at that price but not available here in Malvern.

The Vodafone 4G option is no faster than Felix for a lot higher price.

My Felix is in a $100 AC1200 with LTE Sim support from eBay, Looks like $164 atm, should go on sale.

    • +1

Felix has just started cracking down on “unauthorised “ devices, eg 4g modems. I was on this plan and my felix service was suspended suddenly on Friday. This vodaphone deal is pretty good alternative

      • What hardware did you have it set up on?

        • +1

          A b818 4g modem
          Average of 500gb monthly usage

          • @Mr Mrrtn: I used 700gb in the first month, since then it is closer to 350gb.

      • So if they don't "approve" of 4G modems, get a 4G phone and USB tether it to the router. What they'd detect on their network is a phone not a modem.

        • USB tether doesn’t work well for iPhone, and android devices only have quite a select list of approved devices. My LG Android phone wasn’t supported and felix stated they couldn’t activate my service if I used it with that phone

      • +1

More likely because of massive usage. This isn't unusual and part of their fair use policy.

  • +3

    I got this today…$42.50 for 12 months + 1 month trial.
They do credit check. Took 20 mins to complete the things at store. They give Nokia 5g pre activated modem plug n connect.
    Speed test showing D 140mbps U 45mbps.
But connection dropped once but it might not be any serious issue.
Will use for few days and then can give actual feedback.
    Hope this helps.

    • It is $37.5 or $42.50 for 11 months not 12 months

12 month max cost (assuming your return the modem in good working condition) is $412.5 or $467.5 (which includes paying for 11 months).

I've found the 5G light to go to orange quite often like once every 1-3 days, during evening times, and its back to green in mornings

      • The light went to orange means it switching to 4G when no reception for 5G?

        • Yeah possibly or means poor 5G signal

          • @USER DC: Any idea what spead it is roughly when switching to 4G signal? On their website its 4G plan speed limited to 20M, my concern is once swtiching to 4G signal the speed might be limited automatically?

            • +2

@step2au: Oh man, i had speeds of as low as 1 Mbps (When they were doing maintenance work, which they didn't inform me about at all lasted about like 10 hrs) but after multiple hrs of time wasting with their CS/TS team, they gave me $20 Credit.
But generally speaking speed stays around about 130-200 Mbps Down, 30-50 Mbps Up. Max is about 330 Mbps down(I've gotten it), 55 Mbps Up. When light is all green, it usually stays around 185 Mbps.
Even when the light goes orange speed generally doesn't go below 70 Mbps download, it will still usually stay around 130 Mbps.

    • @kunalb84 can we have an update?

      • +1

I have been using now for close to a month now….Not having any issues with speed or dropouts.

        Avg Peek hour Speed D - 70Mbps and U - 40Mbps and Off Peek D - 120Mbps and U - 45Mbps (Connected via Mesh)

Compare to Superloop with ADSL2 I had a limit of 100Mbps so overall happy with this.

And for info I am in 5G region within 100m from Vodafone store so network is pretty fine.

  • "Unfortunately, 5G Home Internet isn’t available in your area."
2 blocks from Melb CBD and I don't get 5G!

  • Just signed up.
Been on this with Iinet for their tester.
Got another 1month free now with Vodafone.
$42.50 is plenty fine/ overkill for parents usage

  • What is the minimum contract? 12 months?

  • I just rang Vodafone and they told me the offer expired 5th Jan 2022 (including in store) - anyone here managed to get the offer after this date? Also anyone able to find the T&C's above on the website anywhere?

    • No more the deal finished.

    • I haven't managed to get it either. If anyone figures it out or it comes back can you tell us?

  • I would be interested in the deal
