    Better than the Xiaomi pump?

    • +2

It performs about the same as the old Xiaomi pump (i.e. the one with the micro USB connector). The new Xiaomi 1S however is far superior (much faster flow rate, so it pumps faster), but also more expensive.

      • Is that so? I thought this and the 1s xiaomi ones were neck n neck. I bought the Xiaomi 1s from aliexpress for some $49 but had to wait for some 3 weeks.

        • +8

This is the "old" model Baseus pump (i.e. it uses the micro USB connector).

There's a newer Baseus model with 2400mAh battery which is chunkier and heavier and uses a USB-C connector, and that seems to be more of a direct competitor to the new Xiaomi 1S:
          https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/313552815908

However, the Xiaomi 1S still feels faster (I haven't done any direct comparisons, but it definitely feels faster), and has a claimed flow-rate of 15L/min. Source: I own all 3 of these pumps.

Note that the new-style Baseus pump is significantly louder (almost 90db), so that's another reason I prefer the Xiaomi 1S. Despite being more powerful, the 1S is only as loud as the old Baseus model, around 80db.

The Xiaomi 1S is definitely my favourite out of the 3. They all do the job, but the 1S is just better all-round. I definitely would not buy the old Xaomi (non-1S) model though — according to Xiaomi's specs, it has a very slow flow-rate of 7L/min.

          • @deadpoet: Thank you for the first comparison I’ve found on this!

          • @deadpoet: thanks for the comparison mate! would you know from experience how many car tires can they fill up from flat?

            • +1

@relentlessM8: I have no idea, I only use these to top up my tyres for a few psi, have never tried to fill them from flat.

Anecdotally, people have said that portable battery-powered pumps like this aren't well suited for that kind of thing. You'll probably run into issues like the pump overheating and having to stop/auto-shutdown in order to cool down. Not to mention that it would take aaaages to pump. You're better off getting one of those heavy duty pumps which are purpose made for filling tyres — these are powered off your 12V car battery or power point, and they typically have far higher flow rate too.

Here's an example unit — it'll literally be 8x faster than most of the portable battery-powered pumps:
              https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/143954262848

Battery-powered pumps are all about the portability and convenience, not performance or endurance.

  • How you get it to $44? It is $58. 12% is only $7.

        Ah cool. Grabbed one.

  • Do these things work well with pumping pool inflatables?

    • +2

No, for pool inflatables you're much better off with a blower type inflator. Much much faster.

      • Any recommendations?

        • +1

Ozito one works well if you're in the ecosystem. I took the hose from an old bellows pump and rigged it up to the included attachment, makes it a hell of a lot more versatile. Also works good as a deflator

  • Anyone using this ? Any reviews would be helpful

    • +2

I bought one earlier in the year primarily for my motorbike. Have only used a few times on the moto, car, and a bicycle but works well and seems accurate enough. Not as loud as I thought it would be which is good.

      • I’ve just bought one for my motorbike, is it fairly quick for a pressure top up?

        • Yep literally seconds just for sporadic top ups of 1 or 2 psi. Beats wrestling with an inaccurate servo pump on hot wheels.

    • +1

I've owned one for a few months. Excellent quality unit. Very light and portable. Have inflated caravan and 4wd tyres no problem. I bought it primarily to carry around in my backpack when I'm out on the electric skateboard.

    • +1

Got it from the last deal. Topped up 1-2psi for 8 tyres, 4 push bike wheels and a ball. Comes with all the attachments for inflatables, ball and tyre.

It’s noisy but same with all compressor pumps.

Does the job and happy with it for around $45. Can’t speak on how long it will last though but seems to be pretty good quality.

      • Thanks for all inputs

  • +2

Yeh I have a slow leak and can’t be stuffed going to get it pumped once a week

  • Can pump cycling bike?

    • -5

No. Just maximum car and truck tires. Cycling bike might be too much.

      • +2

Don't know why you think that, it literally has a bicycle option in the menu. The pressure goes even lower to inflate balls.

        • -2

I was being sarcastic mostly. But you should know that cycling bike pressure is might greater than cars or trucks (simply because it can). I usually pump my bike to 130-150psi, so yeah.

Judging from how long it takes to pump a car tires to a typical 40psi, you are either going to wait a long time to get that high for road cycling bike or it will never gets there.

          Just my two cents ;)

I brought one to pump my kid's toys since they deflates really quickly. Balls too. Abou 20psi if you are wondering.

          • @Xantar: Need to add /s on the end so people know 😅

Yeah i run 100 on my road bike but use a floor pump for that but have used the Baseus on my mtb to around 45ish.

edit: someone negged for my choice of tyre pressure, ouch 😂

          • +1

@Xantar: You don't seriously pump your tyres to 130-150psi do you? If so, what for?
Do you ride tubular on perfectly smooth surfaces only? lol

Most clinchers usually have max psi of around 120 and with tyres these days, there is no need for such high pressures.
Carbon clincher or tubeless rims usually have a max psi below what you are pumping.

It would get a road bike tyre to 120psi if the pumps 150psi rating is true, then it will get there and it would probably do it faster than pumping a car to 40psi. There is not much volume in a road bike tyre so as long as the pump is strong enough, it will do it. The reason it takes so long for car tyres is because of the volume or air needed and the output of volume is low since it is small.

You are pumping balls too high as well. A regulation basketball should be around 7.5-8.5psi, a soccer ball about 8-15psi, football around 10psi.

            • @8azinga: "You are pumping balls too high as well" 😏

          • +2

            @Xantar:

I usually pump my bike to 130-150psi, so yeah.

Then you probably have a road bike.

Normal bike tyres inflate to 30-40psi

    • The video in the listing shows cycling bike tyre being inflated. Given there is a PSI guage dunno how @Xantar feels its too much for the push bike? Just need to set the right PSI isn't it?

There are no reviews to rely on so I'm also going to just wait and not jump the gun just yet.

    • +2

You can definitely pump up bike tyres with this. I have done so many times. Just set the PSI and press go.

    • This one can pump up to 150psi.

  • I bought one, used social good for the cash back

  • +1

is it usb-c ? can't find that info on the page, thanks

    • According to the listing on Amazon it is USB-C.

      • +2

Actually it looks like micro-usb. Whomever invented micro-usb should be shot.

    • +3

Unless there's an updated model it's micro USB.

    • +1

      Mine is Micro usb

Will this work on little Yaals?

I could be translating wrong but it kinda sounds like he wants to stick his peepee in it for some reason 🤔

        • On the ball(s)!

        • +1

Or stick this into his pee pee

  • given how less feed back/review this things has, i am gonna wait.

  • IMO better get one of the tool brand pumps, like Ozito, Ferrex/Workzone, PowerG. People already likely to have multiple batteries.

Not that I've ever used mine on a tyre yet lol

    • Was thinking the same but I guess this one is about portability? I've used the $40 ferrex one to pump a car that was sitting for years and was probably about 5 mins per tyre from 0psi… Plus just throw in a new battery whilst this takes 3 hours to charge?

  • Clicked add to cart and it's OOS.
    Dammit!

    • Does appear to be one there right now. Worth checking.

      • Yep, you're right, got one, cheers!

  • +1

Just got one now. Link said out of stock went to store and bought it from there is worked

  • Just got one thanks in stock 3 mins ago

  • Just got one too

  • Thanks still works I got it for Total $45.10 AUD

  • +6

Wouldn’t it make sense to get the newer model USB type C version for $47.12? I just got one.

I have the new Baseus pump with USB-C. I bought it to periodically inflate my car tires and the flow rate is acceptable. The problem is the tube attachment is garbage. The end that goes into the pump has a rubber o ring that is supposed to provide the proper seal. Except that it doesn't because if you it tighten too hard the o ring easily warps. If you don't tighten it hard enough the tension on the other end that goes into the tire causes the tube to unscrew itself from the pump. So I have to hold the tube and the pump when I'm pumping my tires. It's just a (profanity) pain in the ass. Would go for the Xiaomi one given the specs and features are similar and probably the attachment isn't crap.

    • This "old"er model has a screw on type connector for tyres. I didn't notice the O ring problem you are referring to.

  • If you missed out keep refreshing the eBay page every so often, I have seen a few become available after a few refreshes for the last few hours but they go pretty quick so act fast! I was able to get one though.

    Back in stock

  • Received mine today, I inflated 4 tyres from 37-38 psi to 40 psi and it went down 2 bars (out of 4), anyone else having issues with their products?

    • Do you mean you inflated all 4 tyres to 40psi and it used up half your batteries? If so, how many minutes did each tyre take to pump?

      • They were at 38 psi and I upped them to 40 psi, after I was finished I had 2 out of 4 bars on my device.

  • Any recommendations for portable pump to use for inflatable stand-up paddle boards? This one looks great but don't think battery will last to do a whole board
