I bought something in store from JB hifi today. Received two promotion on top

  1. As photo, seems like a free $20 gc with Norton 360 for mobile trial and trial can be cancel anytime
  2. a barcode of $10 JB coupon to spend in store, from 13th Dec to 24th Dec

No min spend it seems. And some usual exclusion for example gift cards and apple product

I do not know if these two promotions have been posted before or not, quick search return nothing.

isnt it $40 jb GC for installing on a PC?

    • I have no idea mate. I only received this promotion for $20

      • +2

It has both deals via your link, just the PC link is this one:

        au.norton.com/jb-pc

I can't understand why anybody would install anything from Symantec, especially Norton products, on any of there devices these days; especially on a mobile. Rely upon Android Play Store protections, only install from official play store, similar for iOS apps. The AV and other crap on mobiles does essentially nothing.

And for Winblows computers….. use built-in Windows Defender and save yourself from the garbage experience that these "protective" AV / Security products provide.

    • +5

I understand why ppl will install it. For the free egift cards! For me, once ive claimed the gift card, Norton's will be uninstalled because I use nod32 😁

      • +2

It's only "free" if you are not paying for it in cash and/or experience. Sometimes free is very costly indeed.

    • I would argue this, but TBH I have no facts to support an argument as I've always used decent AV. Specifically I haven't trusted Windows Defender. Any supporting info for your opinion? Genuine question

    • +4

That's why they pay you to have a trail.

    • +1

rely upon Android Play Store protections lol

    • Yep I’ve been saying this for about 15 years. My sisters would go to HN and buy Norton bloatware every now and then and the next time I’d be fixing their computers (I’m the family IT guy), I’d uninstall it and install or update Spybot, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, Firefox, Firefox extension and finally make sure Windows is up to date. All free. And a whole lot less resource hungry.

Malware bytes is overhyped. Get something better. It's performance isn't that great in comparison to others. Neither is its av capability in terms of false positives and detections of actual attacks

        • +1

Yeah this was going back around 10 years, I couldn’t remember the exact tools but I think the Malwarebytes one was for the hosts file (redirecting dodgy website lookups to localhost). These days I live a quieter life not fixing peoples computers. 😌

          • +2

@GeneralSkunk: Haha that's the right call. People always take for granted how much time the family IT guy has to spend cleaning up other people's mistakes!

  • +4

It's asking for JB Hi-Fi receipt number when you try to claim.

    • Saw this in the T&Cs
“Claimants must retain their original receipt containing their promotion code and their 60-day subscription offer in conjunction with hardware purchase for all claims.”

      • there is no promotion code on the receipt. just as the photo you can see

it did ask for JB receipt number which I have

I am not sure if you did not buy any hardware from JB you can still claim this bonus gift card or not

but it is still a deal for those who did

    • -2

      deal is dead then

      • +1

I put my own order number in the form. Though it doesn't have this promotion, it is a genuine order number.

        • you mean JB order number? did it work?

    • Yep got to this stage and the freebie is dead. Now time to nuke every trace of this horrible program from my PC

  • +1

I got the same offer last Dec when I bought the iPhone 12 PRO MAX,but didn't receive any gift cards from Norton after a few months

  • After the claim is submitted, it says "Your JB HiFi $20 or $40 eGift Card will be sent to you by email within the next 8 weeks."

    • +1

Yeah, we really need a "HaHa" emoji response and perhaps others besides the very simple + or - ….

  • +5

Who uses Norton anti virus these days 🤣

    • Me 🙂

  • Did anyone actually receive the gift cards yet? Is there any minimum spend needed in these gift cards?

  • The Bonus JB Hifi $40 eGift Card offer (“the Offer”) is valid for 30 days after the activation of a 60-day Norton 360 Standard trial subscription that has been acquired from a JB Hifi retail store or JB Hifi online in conjunction with a hardware purchase between December 1, 2021 and June 30, 2022 inclusive. Online claims will be accepted until 11:59pm AEST on June 30, 2022.

What kind of hardware are we talking here?

  • +4

You don't need antivirus software installed on your PC. I'm baffled why people still believe this.

    • +6

Those of us that understand how an AV works, know that Defender no longer sucks and have some idea of the threat we're even defending against.. we are in the minority.

  • +4

I literally get spam emails from randomised domains that attempt to scare people into downloading Norton - they seem really fake but they redirect to the real website. Do not support this company

    • Probably affiliate referral links so they get paid if you sign up
Kinda like how www.binnance.com redirects to the real website but with a referral link

  • -1

Computer viruses are big government conspiracy

  • I bought something at JBHifi online store, I just got an order number and an SKU number. Can I make a claim?

  • -3

This is a hoax of a company, second only to Murdoch’s Hoaxtel.

  • Doesn't work , tried on Norton mobile app.

  • +3

Got this offer 9 months ago, installed, submitted form but no gift card received.

  • +4

Everybody: "You couldn't pay me to install Norton AV!"

    Symantec: "Let's see if that's actually true…"

    • 😅🤣

  • If you plan to pay for threat protection, you are probably going to be better off using one of the three-star packages, from this review
    https://www.av-comparatives.org/tests/advanced-threat-protec…

If it is only malware protection you want, Norton360 does not rate at well as others in this review
    https://www.av-comparatives.org/tests/malware-protection-tes…
Again, look for the three star ratings.

The following quote should remove any confusion about the use of the name Norton Lifelock in comparison testing:

"In the year 2017, Symantec (a parent company of Norton at that time) completed the acquisition of the LifeLock company. A couple of years later, in the year 2019, Symantec went apart from Norton to join Broadcom Inc. At the same time, Norton and LifeLock became one company: NortonLifeLock Inc. Today, NortonLifeLock refers to a single company that is a global leader in consumer Cyber Safety."

  • Is there a serial key on the jbhifi receipts?

Can I install to multiple virtual machines and make a heap of burner accounts and claim multiple giftcards?

    • +1

Can and should are very different

      • +1

Always wondered if ozB condoned fraud.

        • You can get 3 per household. And the T&Cs don't seem to specify that it needs to be 3 different sets of hardware. So if you have 3 people in your house, you're chilling. "Making a heap of burner accounts" is a bit rough.

Not that they'd catch you anyway.

  • Thanks for the reminder! Checked my email to find a $30 gift card from the last promo.

    • What did you have to buy to be in the last promo?

      • +1

Probably Logitech G305 in this post. I got the $30 after 3 weeks.

      • +1

I think it was any logitech product, I grabbed a g640 mousepad. They had links to Norton on all the product pages.

  • +2

Did anyone else see this error for the mobile app?
"Sorry, the key you have entered is not for a product participating in this offer."

  • Sorry, the key you have entered has already been used to claim for this offer or another offer.

  • +1

They can pay me $200 and I’m still not going to install this bloatware on my computer. No one should ever.

    • Why do you call it bloatware? Just checked Norton Internet Security on 2 machines and it's using around 30mb of RAM and 0.01% CPU. Doing a full system scan it jumped to 140mb, i have programs like NordVPN using more just sitting idle switched off in the browser and not even running.

      Norton is very efficient.

  • I received that for purchasing a laptop. A little inconvenient on this offer because it has a 30-day expiry. However, claims close June 30, 2022, so I can keep the receipt and activate it when I need to use it!

    • how long it takes to arrive ?

      • +1

I registered on 8/3 and got the gift cards today 16/3. My gift cards say "No Expiry Date". It was an effort getting these - the product key generated by Norton didn't work, so I contacted support and was with them for about an hour which included remote control session to fix it, I think the problem was something do to with it being a trial and no payment being made so something doesn't get activated properly. They could even still remote control my laptop even after the laptop restarts which was a bit scary - you have the option to quit at any time but I still wonder if there are traces left over.

        • Same happened to me and I didn't even get as far as remote support, got disconnected from chat.

I have found though that you can download the software and login, it will automatically pick up the license.
          https://www.norton.com/latestns

Software is absolutely hopeless, if you can't even get serial number authentication right, what hope do you have of actually understand vulnerabilities and exploits?

  • Check your spam folders, received the giftcards on 25/01
