Monster cables are the best.
I thought monster was overpriced junk. What makes them the best?
You forgot the /s
I was going to comment this but you beat me already
Monster were known for making quality analog cables and they were substantially better than most, but when HDMI was introduced, they just couldn’t leave their high prices behind, even when their cables had no improvement on video/sound quality.
Best at assisting with financial suicide?
Username doesn't check out 😂🤣😂
he got negged a lot cause obviously a lot of people missed the joke!
Don't think it was a joke, he should it was a joke when I ask the question. I was genuinely interested as to why they were the best, I didn't neg some people are genuinely lost
@Bretttick: if you've been around in Ozbargain long enough you would have known the rants that we've had about Monster Cable….

Certified??
It’s “Doldy” vision and “HDE” 120Hz. Hahaha not sure if it would be certified 2.1 spec
https://www.expertreviews.co.uk/tvs-entertainment/7976/expen…
Expensive HDMI cables make no difference and here's why
Yep, I thought so. This discussion has gone on for 10+ years.
From what I've read whatever spec cables are is what will be shown no matter expensive or cheap
Sure, for non HDMI 2.1 spec cables. For 2.1 cables, you’d want it to be properly certified. I am assuming you don’t have any 4K 120Hz equipment?
Arrived and works well, nice and thick, with braided sheath
I haven't read the article but if you are buying these cables at longer distances they cost a lot because they have an optical converter in them.
If cable length is 5m+ you'll need better cables for 4k 60fps HDR+ bandwidth. speaking from experience.
This isn't entirely true.
If the cable supports the bandwidth then there's no difference in quality.
It's entirely possible an older cable (even short one) won't have the bandwidth for say 4K HDR at 60Hz. I had to buy new cables to support it (The signal either completely didn't work or flickered terribly)
False
How is this false? My old cables worked fine when my Apple TV was set to 1080 and didn't work when changing to 4K.
Changed to a new cable and it worked fine.
@cooni: Just because a cable will pass through 4K signals, does not mean "there's no difference in quality". See this for a ELI5 explanation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XFbJD6RE4EY
Sadly, that's not a case if you need 4k/120Hz (HDMI 2.1). These uncertified cables do not work properly, check reviews on Amazon and other websites.
If that is the case, than would this beasus be a good deal or are we able to wait for a cheaper one?
HDMI 2.1 cables use pins 10-12 for video signal data where they were previously used for a slow clock signal, the cables are physically different.
Does that mean these cables are not backwards compatible to my current hdmi devices? Like if I'm looking for a new hdmi cable from my switch to TV, I cannot use one of these?
Neither switch or my TV has hdmi 2.1
No, its a higher spec cable all round (esp on those pins), but still the same signal pairing so will work fine with older gear. If you get interference on your ARC it may even work better (than a non Ethernet v2.0 cable).
which length?
Not cheaper for 3m fyi
i was thinking it might be a price error and i just noticed that its the same price for the 4k 2 metre and the 8k 2 metre cable $9.99 so i am even more inclined to believe its a price error but theres a chance they might honor it never know
Your post is a better deal.
Bought 5 x 2m lengths so cheers
Real deal is in the comments! Cheers mate
Thanks for that. Snagged a 2m.
I have a few of these, can confirm the 2m work perfect with series x 4k120 Dolby vision.
Anything 10-15 metres in length makes a big difference from my experience when buying for a projector. I got a ugreen 15m optic HDMI for $150 and even that failed after a year or so.
How? define "failed" pls.
Complete signal loss.
ugreen sounds like a brand I wouldn't trust. I would pay more just for the quality
ugreen is considered some of the best quality cables for people in the know
I have quite a few ugreen cables (mostly Cat6 and USBC) and they have all been great.
Okay cool, I'll look for them. Are they the blue or black ones?
Looks like Baseus also makes ethernet cables
Ugreen makes great products and they work
These are good cables, the connectors are well made and don’t become fatigued easily (despite trying to be careful with them where possible it’s unavoidable with a laptop that you keep moving)
XMASSALE15
Another 15% offDammit, I just spend $90 on 3 x ugreen equivalent.
Using these on my LG OLED, so far so good!
3m OOS
Ah good.. I bought 3m cables the other day, then just saw this deal. Feeling better
Love me some doldy vision!
Doldy vision is a bit sus
10 meteres would be fine but would degradate to much.
Stil can't beat 1080p tho, going strong stil, it even outlasted most intel CPU's.
HDMI 2.1 cables aren't any different to HDMI 2.0 cables in the amount of conductors inside the cable. The only physical change that happened recently was between HDMI 1.4 or earlier and HDMI 2.0 where you actually needed new cables for full 18Gbps bandwidth. HDMI 2.1 just doubles the clock rate of the data lanes.
not the amount of cables, but in 2.1 pin 10-12 are now used for video data where they were previously used for a vastly slower clock signal, so the cables do need to be different.
You are correct in that they changed the clock pins into the 4th lane and embedded the clock within those lanes as well as doubling the clock.
But you don't need new cables. I have multiple 4K120/8K60 HDMI 2.1 monitors at work, I use existing HDMI 2.0 cables without an issue. Obviously shorter is better, anything over 3m can definitely throw a spanner in the works.
Just because a cable doesn't say 8K certified doesn't mean it won't work. It just means they didn't spend the money to get it certified.
When using PDEC12 I receive this error:
To apply this code, you need to be an eBay Plus member.I don't see eBay Plus in the title. Am I missing something ?
unless you have ebay plus pdec10 should work for non ebay plus members
Thanks BargainWizard, that code works for me :)
what is 8k? this is starting to get ridiculous now..my eyes are already burning on a 4k pc…
Super VGA
Thanks Op. got one.
Not quite sure, but HDR 4K 60Hz did not work for me with this. I was able to get HDR 4K 60Hz with the HDMI cable that came with Samsung hw-q950a soundbar as well with ugreen 8k here https://www.amazon.com.au/UGREEN-Support-Dynamic-Compatible-…
Forget the 4K 60 ! i want the 4K 120 !
Thx Op, got the last 8k 3m cable
Same here. Looks like they're restocking it occasionally.
Any point getting certified 2.1 HDMI cables over these?
should i risk getting these without the certification? gonna use it with pc and ps5 for 4k120
They took my order then emailed me the next day to say they had no stock of both 2m and 3m 8k cables. I’ll need to await a refund now. ☹️
Baseus eBay took my money for 2x 3m HDMI cables earlier today, then tonight I get an email saying a system error has occurred and there is no stock available. When I emailed Baseus I got an auto reply saying they are on a two day holiday… not happy 😡
Yeah they had run out of the 8K 2M cables when I tried to buy one last night. I did manage to get an 8K 1M which will suit my needs.
Codes don't seem to work anymore
Yep, eBay does sell that. Is there a deal somewhere?
