I wonder if this includes paying the bill within the app

    • I suppose as long as you're paying directly with your Amex and not via a third party payment processor like Paypal, it should.

      • +1

I updated the Deal comments .. made a payment via app waiting on email.

  • Is this on the AMEX app?

    • Yes. But targetted to certain cards.

  • Didn't get it on my explorer card, probably as it's what I use to pay my monthly bill.

    • I updated the deal with 'Notes' reflecting this comment.

Is it OK to pay extra bills in advance for post paid? Want to maximise my 3 cards

    • Yes

      • Does anyone know how to prepay a bill in advance? I just ported in to Telstra so I got $11 back on my $55 plan, say I wanted to pay $45 towards my next bill to get $9 back so I get the full $20 credit how would I do that?

  • Paid $100 online, no email yet.

  • +1

Would this work for Belong products?

    • It worked for me with Boost 12 month prepaid plan earlier this year

      • Boost use Telstra's systems, but with Belong I'm always billed from Belong. Unsure if it's the Telstra system (even though they're owned by them.)

        • Then I probably would not count on this working for Belong

I’ve never paid a single cent to Telstra on my Qantas Discovery, but I was still targeted for this offer!

    • +3

I’ve never paid a single cent to Telstra

      Only such customers get targeted

  • Been using amex to pay telstra bills for years but looks like I missed out this time

    • That's the game, I'm also on direct debit via Amex card 1 - no deal. Got it on my Amex card 2…

  • +1

Have updated the post ..yes you get money back when you pay your bill.

    • Technically, it's money you could have saved being with another telco.

      • I'm under a contract with Telstra which provides that I would pay more per month in termination than if I see the contract out to its expiry because they'll otherwise avoid paying handset credits per month of $15/month for as long as I stay connected, even though Telstra otherwise wouldn't be providing any service whatsoever if terminated. This is one dodgy organisation.

      • True but see lots of people here take advantage of Telstra JB Hifi plan which is quite popular. So i think its a good deal

  • Have the offer get an error when trying to save it

    • Same, also with buymobile offer

  • Got this offer on my Plat Reserve

  • Confirming received cashback email for paying $100 to Telstra even though my monthly bill was less than $100.

Did anyone get it despite paying via Paypal - I've got the offer but not keen on paying CC surcharge of 0.3%, if possible.

    • +5

30c for $20 is still a good deal.

    • +1

Paypal sounds risky. 'Excludes transactions made through a third party establishment or payment processor.'

  • wonder whether it stacks with https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/670089

  • Pay my telstra bills with Amex Edge card direct debit and the offer is not on it. It's instead on the Amex Velocity card so I canceled the edge's direct debit and paid my latest bill with the velocity card. No email yet and can't see the charge on the velocity.

    • It takes a couple of days for the transaction to post, then you will be able to see under "Saving" tab how much the offer saves you.

      • Is there a Savings tab in the app? Transaction posted but no amex email or cashback yet.

        • I can only see the saving tab in desktop brower. I don't always receive amex confo email either after qualified spending.

  • Buying a prepaid starter pack or recharging a prepaid SIM are eligible?
Can get cashbacks in multiple transactions?

  • Bummer didn't get this.. probably because I've dd'd to AMEX before for Telstra

  • I hope that it can be over several transactions. For this offer, I saved my Amex to Telstra Direct Debit. Telstra then did a test run and debited $1, which triggered a 'you have used this offer' email from Amex. = $1 rebate!

    • +1

      20 cent rebate?

  • Thanks. Received (and used) this offer on my Platinum Reserve credit card but not Platinum Charge.

  • How do U pay your bills in advance?

    • +2

Just select pay and enter any amount u like.. u are not restricted to the amount owing. You can always underpay or overpay or pay the amount due.

      • So I pressed "Make an advanced payment" in the app, put $100, then paid with Amex and got the email.

I will be getting $20 back right?

        • +1

I would expect so.I did the same on the website and it worked.

  • Does click and pay works?

  • ref up to $20 Credit, so can one pay their bills in multiple transactions or does it only count on the first single payment?

    • Don't know the answer to your question, but Telstra will register any extra amount you pay above the current bill, as credit, which will offset against the next bill. So for ease, I just paid $100 in total to get back $20. And can see some credit on my account.

    • +1

      Multiple transactions work.

  • ref "Click to Pay

With Click to Pay, you now have an easier way to pay with your card online, from the company you know and trust.

    No fees apply
Visa, MasterCard and American Express cards accepted"

so if you use click to pay will it trigger the amex credits or is it ran by a third party?

  • added card to direct debit as i wanted to avoid fee but bill is only due in mid Jan which is after promo ends on dec 31. i got email "Get 20% back, up to $20 back
Thank you for using your Telstra Online Amex Offer with your Card ending in xxx " straight away. so is it still ok to may a manual payment in advance on dec 31st using the same card number?

    • You can try this - which has no fees. I use Telstra "Click to pay" option, and pay a total of $100. There is some credit left over on my account for next bill, after paying off the current bill. As I mentioned above, I do not know if multiple transactions are OK, however, you have nothing to lose if you have already done one, to pay what's left of $100, and fingers crossed, you may get further credit.

    • Oh, I was skipping/browsing very fast … just read your comments properly - and you have mentioned the Click to Pay. Yes that is a good one to use.

      • thanks for your reply bluesky, can you confirm that you received the amex credits for paying bill via Click to Pay option? i though maybe it wouldnt count as its a third party?

        • +2

Yes, I have gotten the Amex credit. As a matter of fact, I have used this option to pay in previous months also, because it is fee-free. And have noted the merchant on my Amex statement to be Telstra (not third party).
