Hugely entertaining movie too
This movie felt like another instalment of their Pirates franchise. I wonder if it was written as one but because they fired Johnny Depp, it was rewritten to swap pirates out for people on river boats. Otherwise, the story and plot is all very similar and not ‘adventurous’ at all.
Nah, the movie is based on a Disney ride.
If it was based on the ride there would be zero supernatural elements to the storyline. Really wanted this to be an adventure movie but as the person you replied to said, it went full pirates. Could have been a fun movie but tried to be too clever.
@Ryanek: …I've been to multiple Disney parks in multiple countries multiple times. There is absolutely NOTHING supernatural in the story of the rides. Don't misinterpret what I'm saying.

Seriously, this is not a new thing, there are heaps of movies based on Disney rides.
@Ryanek: I'm not taking it personally, nor did I imply I was offended or whatever. I'm just not sure why you're telling me things I already know? The only thing the ride shares with the movie is the fact there's a boat in it. I wish it was actually based on the ride, not trying to fit into the pirates movies cinematic universe.

Not too bad and fun for a while - and the Rock is very good at being a parody of himself - but it all went a bit gonzo at the end.
Bur for under ten bucks for the 4K then gift to a friend, you could do worse.
