Built on the framework of the Xiaomi Mi Electric Scooter Pro 2, the design of the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team Edition offers a very different look, and if you’re into F1, you’ll recognise the famous grey, black and green colour scheme. The regular version is a matte grey finish, with a red accent around the front wheel. After seeing the Mercedes version in person, I definitely prefer it, I think it looks far more premium than the base model, but that Mercedes logo does come at a pretty big premium, when functionality-wise, they offer the same experience.

I thought that was a speaker for music, apparently you can make your scooter sound like a F1 car.

    • +3

So I don't need to make Vroom Vroom noises ?

      • +2

No spokes, so a clothes peg and playing card are useless

        • Thats cause the real pros cut a little square out of margarine container.

    • +1

Wonder if I can connect this speaker to my ED Falcon?

  • That's a sweet price if you're after this particular model.

  • +2

Hmmmm, I just had this delivered on Friday but didn't receive the other bits.

  • -4

I’m pretty sure the price hasn’t changed since the last deal since I’ve kept an eye on it, which would make this a dupe.

    • +9

Last deal didn't include the free headlight & speaker.

      • +1

Ah. Fair enough, I missed that detail.

    • I'm thinking they may have added the extras into the deal since the other post was made. I ordered last week and I don't think they were included.

      • Email them and try your luck?

        • Yeah I gave it a go, no big deal if they don't. It's only a sweetener.

        • +2

Yay, they have sent out the extra parts to me. That's good service.

    • +1

If it’s as reliable as their cars, I’d give it a miss. 😂

    • +2

for less than a grand i can finally have my very own maserati

    • +1

Looks alright. 120kg payload thats better than most at 100. Whn im about 105 :s

      • +1

It can take a bit more than 120 too. I've talked to someone who weighs 135 and they get about on their Ninebot Max just fine.

Keep in mind, they have the Gen 1 motor which has more torque than the Gen 2 motor seen on the Maserati Ninebot Max.

    • As cool as it looks, the premium you pay for the Maserati branding isn't worth it imo. You don't get any extra performance and some smaller scooters will still have more power than the Max.

On the other hand, the Max is an easy recommendation to anyone looking into buying an e-scooter.

    • @CoreJava So it seems to be a Ninebot Max with 400W instead of 350W motor and a bolder color, and it's a Maserati!!
When you're saying you're waiting for this one, do you mean to go on sale? As you can already buy it online for $999, which seems to be a good price.

      • Oh woah!! I was under the impression the Maserati Ninebot Max had the normal 350w motor output. 400w is a nice touch :)

        • says 600w in the description

  • +3

So… when will it be legal to ride in NSW?

    • +5

Not legal on the roads, but legal on the race track. Nice.

      • +2

        Oooh I wouldn't mind a scooter race!!

Would make use of my overpowered Ninebot scooter project I've been working on :)

    • +5

There is a trial coming up next year. Myself and many others have pushed for this to occur for a while now and it makes me so happy that we will finally ride without fear.

You can find more about this by searching "e-scooters NSW" on Google (in the news section).

  • +1

    Nice scooter.

Keep in mind that they are a rocket when new, but after a few hundred KMs the performance degrades. The only way to get the performance back is to swap the motor.

    • Pretty sure its a battery thing, no?

      • No. You won't find any battery issues within the first few hundred kms on a Pro 2.

    • +3

This is false information. I've used a Pro 2 with 3500km and the performance was exactly the same. The motor does not degrade within a few hundred kilometres.

The battery does not degrade either as 400km on this scooter would equal to ~9 charge cycles using 45km range as the basis of the calculation.

      • +2

saying the battery won't degrade is a bold claim.

        • +3

Saying the battery will degrade within 9 charge cycles is much bolder. That's a clear indicator of a faulty battery and not normal behaviour.

          • @Zackeroo: If you keep it fully charged all the time without using it might just degrade prematurely. Otherwise assuming healthy battery its normal for performance to degrade as the battery discharges.

            • +2

@BargainKen: That is correct. That is separate from what we were discussing tho. We are quite simply discussing the topic of battery degradation after a few hundred kms.

It is normal for performance to degrade as the battery discharges but most definitely not normal to see these effects within a few hundred kms.

Trust me, I have a lot of experience with repairing and using e-scooters (Xiaomi and Ninebot in particular).

    • +1

Hahaha battery degradation after a few hundred kms? Where did you get that idea from? My M365 Pro did 5800kms and still no issues with battery.
Gotta love it when people talk about things they clearly have no clue about.

      • I showed this conversation to a scooter technician I know and that is exactly what they said :)

False information like this can make or break a purchase decision. Pulling random information like this out of your —- is only going to cause people to stay away from this scooter for the wrong reasons.

    • A lot of whooshes in the replies hahaha

  • +1

Does the speaker just make engine sound effects. How do you recharge the light and speaker batteries?

  • -4

At this point I'm not going to be surprised if the Chinese start making humans too.

    Wait…

    • Not sure what you're suggesting but Xiaomi have been making e-scooters since 2016 with the debut of their (very popular) M365.

      • Don't think Xiaomi makes it, but rather contracts it out (like many of their products). My Pro 2 has Ninebot written on the box in small print.

  • -1

In e-Scooter world, Inokim would the be the AMG of e-scooters and the Xiaomi would be the Toyota Camry.

    • Are Inokim ICUs known to start out spicy but degrade real fast as well then?

      • +1

Whomever negged my comment isn't up to scratch on their F1.

    • +1

The Inokim Super Light 2 is the closest match to the Xiaomi. The price is quite a bit more, and the performance doesn't show an AMG/Camry comparison.

      Inokim Super Light 2 - 350W/650W peak
      Xiaomi Pro 2 - 300W/600W peak

Imo the Xiaomi is the better choice here.

  • I prefer a Red Bull or Papaya Team version thanks

    • MV33 <3

      • blessed

as long as you're not #77

    • I'd buy a McLaren for myself!

  • (RRP $299.90) $799

    So … $500.90 above RRP?

    • +1

      That's the price of speaker…

    • +1

me too. I thought RRP is 799, the deal offer is 299. My ozbargain instinct so wanna quick grab this 😂

  • A little set of shock absorbers on these makes these so much better on rough platforms. Wonder why Xiaomi hasnt done it yet.

  • Why are these being sold when I keep reading that it isn't legal?

    • Vacuums are sold when they can't be used at nights legally, but I see vacuum stores like Godfreys setup in local cornerstores and shopping centres.

      • +3

        That sucks.

    • +2

legal in some states at least

    • Even though they are only legal in some states or on private property, you can still buy and own them where they are illegal, you just can't ride them on the street which makes them (profanity) useless and prone to thousands of dollars worth of tickets. Hell, they even sell them at JBHIFI… just another example of how law makers are fossils stuck in a time capsule.

  • With the recent deal of pro 2 ~550 or so, basically you pay ~200 more for the AGM stickers, head light and speaker oh well

    • Yep, I'm a big McLaren fan but my son's are both Mercedes so they'll love this.

  • They're charging me $22 for shipping - to Adelaide. How do you get free shipping?

    • +1

      Go live somewhere else?

  • Does this mean real estate agents are going to drop their A45 AMGs for this AMG scooter?

    • With the recent housing bubble they probably all switching to Tesla's to remain in-fashion.

  • +2

I need the big unit edition, any larger lads around the 135kg mark scooting? It's not fat it's muscle… :P

  • Need a ninebot Max G30 on sale.. It never seme to be.

  • Hey guys! I was thinking about buying this as a gift for my partner for Xmas but no nothing about electric scooters. Would this be a reasonable price? He was wanting to use it to get to and from the station and work (in the Sydney CBD). Any advice or suggestions are welcomed! Many thanks

  • i was literally gonna buy this after work but now its gone :(

  • Do any of these stores (PC Byte, AZAU, Gearbite) actually have stock in hand? have you guys received scooter and what was dispatch time???
