This is a good fan, but it's fairly loud at medium-high power.

    • Good white noise generator if you live next to a motorway lol

Actually I just realised I own the DC version of this, which you can control the speed of. This is the AC version with just three speed settings, though it probably is the same loudness.

i couldn't imagine not having a loud fan to sleep with!

  • Anyone recommend an alternative to this? Looking for a quiet but strong portable fan for the kids room during hot summer nights while they sleep. Was looking out for a vornado until I read the comments that it's noisy when on the higher settings. Thanks

    • Yeah, but bear in mind the lower setting of this is probably equivalent to a higher setting of other fans, so it isn't necessarily more noisy in practice. I wouldn't leave this thing on high at night, even if noise weren't an issue.

  • I got the DC version of this last sale. I'm not sure what the hype is, seems like a glorified fan. Doesn't make the the room cooler or anything.

    Unless I'm using it wrong.

    • I have been lurking for a DC version of this for a while after reading all the positive comments.

Now you give me a very different perspective 🙂

    • It’s an air circulator, the idea being to move cooler air to hotter air areas. If used as a standard fan it’s pretty average at best since it’s just moving hot air around.

      • So what featurenof it differs it from a fan? The room doesn't get any cooler.

        • (Pedestal) Fans are generally crap for moving air further than the immediate area

  • Thinking about getting one of these as a second fan for my indoor riding

  • Seen mixed reviews on this, but I'm just wanting a fan to move bulk air from my cool loungeroom into my hot as (profanity) office, will this do?

  • I got one last year and love it. It circulates air around very well. I love sleeping with it on I find it quite calming. For the size of it, it circulates air extremely well.

I have two DC versions and they have a range of speeds and can be whisper quiet at night to provide airflow and help me sleep. DC models also use less energy than their AC equivalent if that’s of concern. My parents have a AC version and the lowest of the three settings is too loud for me to sleep. If you are buying for living rooms etc AC is fine however if you are using in your bedroom I would get the DC version

  • 533 usually less then $100, i got mine for $56 from david jones last year and they selling a black one for $109 now.
