the official answer to buying a starter telescope is: use binoculars instead until you are comfortable to spend more than $500 on it.
do yourself a favour join iceinspace.com.au and see advise there.

I went to the IceInSpace link that you sent, but
On their homepage they have this,
Selling 5 or 6 YO calendars on their homepage doesn't feel like they're up to date on what's going on in astronomy.
astronomy is for old men.. they are up to date :)
I'm a member on that forum, and it's slow but still full of loads of knowledge
I've seen out of date calendars for sale before though - some people actually like the pix in it so just pull the calendar apart and stick the photos up on their wall.
and stars don't change so much in many thousands of years. Usually the maps per season are fairly food for several years. Rember it's earth turning not the stars.
don't judge book by cover, I have been a member there since almost the beginning. What is there are many helpful people with loads of advise. Also there are number of groups that meetup on or near new moon , if u go to those u can see gear in use and get a better idea and advice. Buying a telescope u will not use will put you off astronomy. So it's good to have a friendly group who can help and guide. Also I'm Australia new telescope prices are quiet high for certain brands the markups are crazy. But used gear can often be had for great deal cheaper and usually it's well loked after. That's another reason to be part of a forum like that. Ther is also Cloudynights.com the US forum and few UK ones are there also. Amateur Astronomy is not always about the stargazing it's also about good company of people who encourage and guide.
What's the normal price for this?
If you are wanting a good first impression of the night sky you are better off spending a bit more and picking up something like a 6/8/10" dobsonian from one of the Chinese brands like Celestron. Choose the size that suits your budget.
These are actually pretty good. Says the dude with an Esprit 120.
I would get this if you just want something to start with to see if you're interested in the hobby.
Can this one be connected to the lens mount of a DSLR?
The focuser is very cheap plastic. The DSLR would weigh more than this entire unit.
I wouldn't :)
I have one and cannot reccomend it. Spend a little more and get something bigger. My phone camera sees more than tbis.
I wouldn't expect so. Maybe for looking at the moon.
