I was browsing Kogan website and notice they've lowered their price for Nikon D5100. Bargain price for a good camera. This would be $558 shipped to my door whereas it's currently $579 on DWI
D5100 + 18-55 kit lens is $619 which is also a good price

I'm now so tempted to get this one as my second body instead of D7000 but I'll try to be good (ie wait until D7000 price drops). The reasons I'm not getting this over D7000 is
- it's not 100% coverage viewfinder, and the viewfinder is actually quite small compared to D7000's
- no dedicated ISO button. although you can assign Fn for this but it doesnt feel right
- no top panel LCD to display shooting info
- only 1 main dial instead of 2 (1 front & 1 back) of D7000
- wont work with my 50 1.8D lens since it does not have a built in motor. That's fine for me since I already have a D90 for that
Other than that this little camera has lots of advantages
- great picture quality since it uses the same sensor with D7000
- more than half the price
- lighter & smaller
- has flip out screen
- built-in HDR & effect modes (I like Color sketch in particular)
- does full HD video with continuous auto-focus 30fps
OK enough said, hope you like it.
the d7000 is more than twice the price so you're comparing a base BMW 3 to a BMW 5 really
the 5100 should be due for a replacement soon
