I remember when the Florsheim marque used to carry some promise of quality, durability and style.

These days, they're predominantly just another overpriced generic Chinese shoe with as much style as a pair of 1980s BATA school shoes (but not constructed as well).

    • Agreed unfortunately. Have you found any other brands (that don't cost the world) that still retain that quality and durability?

My now three preferred brands are in a reply, below, to @Maverickjohn. RM Williams, Loake and Andrew McDonald

NONE of them cost as little as Florsheim (in fact 2-4x the cost depending on prevailing sales).

ALL of them offer far better materials, build quality, wear resistance and (subjectively) style. All off them are designed for years of use and, in the case of RMW and AMcD, can repaired here in Australia at the factory they came from….or any reputable shoe repairer. I have a pair of Loakes that are now 6 years old and have been resolved twice. They look and feel as good as the day I purchased them

Bottom line: Florsheim = cheap shoe with a poor value proposition IMHO.

  • I personally wear the Barret boots, which are also on sale. I love my florsheims.

Used to go this brand before I switched to the rm craftsman. The comfort of the rm boots supersede this and will last longer

    • And cost 4x as much… :-/

I feel the same. It's like they're in a race to the bottom using materials and build quality as their main levers.

Spending the extra up-front on RM Williams, Loake or Andrew McDonald is a better deal in the long-run.

  • Thanks OP. Your post prompted me to search for other Florsheim shoes as the model you posted is likely too wide for my feet. I happened to stumble upon their $99 Black Friday sale https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/666479
