Are you talking about the same switch but with 5 ports?
I'm inclined to think that the power adapter was faulty. No ethernet switch power adapter should emit a screech sound unless it's faulty. You should have returned the unit for a refund.
I have bought heaps of TP-Link products (maybe 20?) over the years including many 5 & 10 port switches and lots of other stuff from other companies with switching supplies (100's) and have never had a noisy psu out of hundreds. It's obviously a rare faulty unit. I have had a few psu units fail (including a recent TP-Link one on a gigabit switch) but the scariest was a Kogan supplied one for a tablet where the case parted and there was exposed 240v AC.
some power supplier do have noise . I have so many spare ones now , would just simply change another one .
Considering it only uses 2.5w of power. You could probably get one of these if you have a spare usb port nearby.

Just need to check if the 12v plug is the correct size though.Brought one , no noise from PSU .
I really hope these aren't like their 5 port switches which are quiet but use a terrible power adapter that emits a shrill screech when plugged in. Had to stop using it, it was driving me crazy.
