  • Wow, mega cheap. PZ screwdrivers are a waste on this set as you barely ever come across that in Australia. Still a good deal.

    • +2

fairly sure if your an electrician you will use PZ quite offen

      • Most electrician I know just use Phillips, even the very organised ones. Asked them why and they said "It's another tool they have to carry."

        • Wow never new pz even existed lol.

How often are screws even pz?

      • +2

Yeah not much use in the PZ ones here, it's just another tool to grab accidentally and strip screws.

      • You're right and those that don't are either incompetent or plain lazy. Most circuit breaker screws are pozi and although Phillips works it doesn't seat properly and can slip. This set is also insulated which is absolutely unnecessary for anyone who isn't an electrician. You should not be carrying out live work ever.

I've seen these at Aldi for around $10.
There's probably a link in OzB

    • +2

Aldi mainly sells their own branded tools. Are you sure they weren't just selling screwdrivers that looked similar?

    • +1

I have the Aldi ones, they are not Wera, but they are probably better than most screwdrivers I have. No problems.

  • -1

    These would meet AS/NZS standards.

Yes Aldi are similar but way cheaper, if you can get them. Bought a set last year but without the casing $9.99. (True ozbargainer would not let this one slip.)

    • I haven't used those but would assume it's a difference in quality.
But to your original comment, the Aldi ones definitely aren't the ones in this deal.

    • +4

Aldi ones are trash compared to these.

I had Aldi ones. Aldi ones were dead with minimal use, waste of money.

      • How did you kill them??😲
Mine are still breathing, even after replacing some face plates and light fittings.

        • By using them to undo and tighten screws.

Point is, Aldi ones are no where close to these Wera ones.

  • The question is, do I need another set of this?

  • +1

Aldi is Workzone branded, very different to these. Wera are a higher quality brand but I can't knock Aldi, especially considering their price. Main downside to Aldi VDE screwdrivers is they are not skinny and the tip on the small flat-head snaps too easily. I wouldn't recommend these Wera ones for most electricians let alone general population as the inclusion of posi-slotted has a rare use case.

    • I bought this. It's my second set.

Super worth it at this price. Yeh sure, pozi is a waste but at this price, it's a bargain even if you throw away the PZ stuff.
